Here's what I don't like. We're in the middle of Bruce being time lost and bringing the apocalypse. Then all of a sudden we get these one-shots where he's already home, perfectly fine? Talk about killing the suspense. Obviously we all know Bruce is going to return but why spoil it by release these now? Not to mention how it steals the wind of the sails of the ending of B&R#15.
Because the bed's been made, and DC has to lay in it. *sigh*
If
Batman: The Return of Bruce Wayne had hit its ship dates, if
Bruce Wayne: The Road Home had hit its ship date, we wouldn't be having this conversation about issues shipping out of order. When
Return ran into production problems on the fourth issue and frelled its release schedule all to hell, DC couldn't just
bump the other
Road Home one-shots, especially where they're part of the ongoing narrative of books, like
Batgirl, that
have hit their ship dates.
Plus, moving books on the schedule at a printing plant can be
really problematic; printing plants have a schedule, and they can be booked up for weeks or months. So, if the one-shots, like
Batman & Robin and
Batgirl, were ready, DC's best decision was to print them when they'd contracted with their printing plant to print them, rather then try and move them around to a later date.
