DC Teases "The Death of Oracle"

I'm reminded how he asked that DC put an embargo on using the New Gods during the year before Final Crisis.... so naturally they did "Countdown to Final Crisis" and "Death of the New Gods"

Here's what I don't like. We're in the middle of Bruce being time lost and bringing the apocalypse. Then all of a sudden we get these one-shots where he's already home, perfectly fine? Talk about killing the suspense. Obviously we all know Bruce is going to return but why spoil it by release these now? Not to mention how it steals the wind of the sails of the ending of B&R#15.
Because the bed's been made, and DC has to lay in it. *sigh*

If Batman: The Return of Bruce Wayne had hit its ship dates, if Bruce Wayne: The Road Home had hit its ship date, we wouldn't be having this conversation about issues shipping out of order. When Return ran into production problems on the fourth issue and frelled its release schedule all to hell, DC couldn't just bump the other Road Home one-shots, especially where they're part of the ongoing narrative of books, like Batgirl, that have hit their ship dates.

Plus, moving books on the schedule at a printing plant can be really problematic; printing plants have a schedule, and they can be booked up for weeks or months. So, if the one-shots, like Batman & Robin and Batgirl, were ready, DC's best decision was to print them when they'd contracted with their printing plant to print them, rather then try and move them around to a later date.

The same thing happened over at Marvel with Captain America. Captain America: Reborn was originally supposed to be a five issue mini. The story wound up needing an extra issue to tell and as a result Steve Rogers appeared in the New Avengers Annual, the Dark Avengers annual and in Captain America: Who Will Wield the Shield before Reborn six hit the shelves.

Well the first part of "The Death of Oracle" came out yesterday and firstly before I get into it...let me confirm what many already suspect...Gail Simone is just an awesome writer. This first part sets up the rest of the four part arc nicely as we finally see Babs and Bruce interact and the dynamic between them. There are hints based on Babs own inner monologue that she realizes not only how important Oracle is to Batman but also how much Bruce actually cares. Bruce is actually even funny in some moments in this comic. Barbara gives him a tour of her new tower and reveals that she wishes to kill herself, meaning Oracle yet still serve Batman. It seems her own personal war against the Calculator is escalating...and now I believe that the folder that Bruce gave her in "Batman:The Return Home" with the new power chair and the redesigned Batgirl costume as a new avatar will come into play by the time this arc concludes. I have to say out of all the Batman, Inc related material this storyline interests me the most outside of "Batman, Inc" it's self. I've long been a Barbara Gordon fan and am interested in seeing how this all comes down over the next three months. Anyone else pick it up?
