DC or Marvel? Which do you prefer?

Technobuilder where do you get your books?
Great Escape, Rick's Comic City or Other? I'd wager we've been at some of the same shows around here at some point at the same time.

I don't think Dynamite gets enough love. I actually am getting more books from them the past year than I have DC.
Their Green Hornet(main series), Warlord of Mars, Last Phantom and Vampirella series are all on my list. Not sure what happened to Robocop, issue #7 was the last one and it wasn't an ending but cliffhanger.
My purchases are all Dynamite books at the moment, 'Red Sonja', 'Queen Sonja', 'Warlord of Mars and 'Vampirella' a number of one shots too. The main thing that I like apart from the stories is each series is not tied into the others. DC and Marvel have gotten so bogged down in the continuity of having one world that many of their incessent events keep derailing a title I might be enjoying. That happened frequently the Ms Marvel during its last run. With Dynamite I can enjoy the story in a book without worry that something will come along to derail it.

I'm also curious about their Kirby: Genesis project coming out soon. Like Project SuperPowers it looks to be self contained universe of just Kirby owned creations.

Two possibilities--one, that it was intentional to end the series that way; two, it could be resolved later in another Robocop series to be released later.

It doesn't appear that they will be picking up the threads from issue #7 anytime soon but they did just announce a Robocop/Terminator mini coming out in July.
This article does say that series writer Rob Williams signed an exclusive contract with Marvel.
"We've been fans of Rob's writing for years, and he's proven himself with an excellent Robocop run for Dynamite," says Dynamite President and Publisher Nick Barrucci. "While we're saddened that he signed an exclusive contract with Marvel, we're very happy for him and his success. It reinforces that we worked with such a great writer. But Rob has written one more excellent story for us, and we're sure that the fans will agree! And working with P.J., whose body of work says it all, is perfect to help ensure that this story sure to be a timeless tale."

"Rob and PJ bring a fresh, wonderful sensibility to both of these characters and each, in their own way, inject a serious amount of "soul" into these two machines and their worlds," says Dynamite Editor Joe Rybandt. "Well, that and all the guns and killing."
But this was recent and doesn't explain why issue #7 from November hasn't been followed up on but Rob did manage to write this Terminator crossover.

I will be picking that up. I think it'll be the first time the two properties have crossed since Dark Horse had both properties back in the mid 90's and that was a well done story as I recall.

the Green Hornet stuff from Dynamite is good. haven't read Last Phantom or Warlord of Mars yet. read the first three issues of Vampirella and i didn't care for it really. does it get better?

I'd agree that Dynamite is underrated.

Never been to Rick's Comic City (But I've heard some good things) and The Great Escape is the place I tend to go if I'm in a series browsing mood.

I'm really behind on comics of late though. Practically 2 years worth.

Unemployment and Entertainment Spending don't really mix sadly.
I keep hoping that Haslam will reverse the state hiring freeze so I can get state benefits while I get my Masters.

Techno, sorry about the unemployment. I've been there twice. Was laid off in '09 for 9months, I feel your pain. Hope things work out. I go to Ricks as it's 10 min from my house.

In my 25yrs of reading comics I've never given Vampirella a real try. I know that some readers on the Dynamite boards feel the way you do and stopped reading. Apparently their intro take was too "unVampy" out of the gate. I've found it to be decent but because I have no baggage with the character I'm not a good gauge most likely. The creative team says they are going to be incorporating Vampy's past so perhaps check back in with the book and it may be more to your liking by then.

I'm really enjoying Warlord of Mars and Phantom though. Both should be ready for TPB soon. I'd recommend those without hesitation.

^Thanks, I appreciate the sentiment.

What neighborhood/area do you live around?

I've often wondered if we tend to frequent the same places ever since I noticed we were both Nashvillian locals.

I like em both. Exclusively limit myself to Marvel and DC. The only non-big-two that I've read so far is the Conan series from Dark Horse (which I quite enjoyed). I have not really gone in for the broader graphic novel genre. Generally stick to the tried and tested superhero themed collections.

Basically I read whatever's available at hand from these two. Used to read more Spidey in the 90s but then went thru a brief period when I wasn't reading any. Then the libraries started stocking up on collections and that's when I picked them up again. And so far, I've quite enjoyed things.
