Rest in Peace DC Fontana...
Very sad news. She wrote some of my favorite episodes.
I'm also a big Dallas fan (it's my lone soap opera) and she actually wrote a couple of the early season episodes of Dallas. Of course it's not unusual for writers to write for various shows but Dallas was obviously a much different type of show then Star Trek.
And I always find it interesting to see any ties to two of my favorite shows (they also both share a lot of actors and production designer Walter Jeffries also did some early work on Dallas when it first started)

Tough week for trek.
I loved DC's writing and up until now I thought the character of Kay Eaton was based on her.
But it was based on Catherine Moore.
But still, to make a point that women Sci-Fi writers had to use pen names to get published was a nice nod to the misogyny of the time.

And she was ultimately more successful than Gene Roddenberry ever was, winning a few Emmys throughout her career despite not ever having created her own TV show.
