daylight saveing time for or aguest it

I'm not necessarily opposed to DST but I think we need to pick one and stay with it. Compromise. Set it back 30 minutes in the fall and leave it be, year round.

Is there a specific reason to have it at 2:00 AM instead of during the day. I mean I do like DST (More daylight is always a good thing, but don't really understand the whole 2:00 in the morning rule.

It's a time when most people are asleep so it'll be the least jarring?

It's interesting, though. Buddy of mine worked night-stock for a major retailer. He told me that how they handled DST for him was that he gets to leave "on time" when we set the clocks up. Which means he works seven hours but gets paid for eight. In the fall when the clocks are set back, he works through that time, but isn't paid for the extra hour -he worked nine hours and gets paid for eight.

It's amazing how much that one hour fucks up our circadin rhythms! I was literally falling asleep at the computer yesterday, and went to bed earlier than my son last night to make it up!

I like that now, past 6pm, it's still light out. Mornings, however, are evil

So, ya, keep it, but I reserve the right to bitch about it :D

It just bugs me... we know it's coming every time and every time most people I know are rushing around because they've forgotten about it.

I do it too. Twenty five years and I still can't seem to remember when the clocks go back. And if they go back an hour... or forward.

It's chaos.

The only reason I know about it is because there's usually a sign posted at work. They don't want their employees showing up late the next day...

Perhaps in this Information Age™ of 24 hour working, we should all adopt a single unified Time Zone and let the Sun decide whether it wants to get out of bed or not. :bolian:

Hmmm. A single unified time zone?

I like it!

May be we could name it "Coordinated Universal Time" or maybe name it after the place we base it on,hmmm. I've always been fond of Greenwich, London.

Yes! I like it!

If only we used UTC everywhere in life (in our schools, in our local and big businesses, and not just the Internet) and rendered the comfort of Local Time redundant, then your comments might be justified. We don't need no stinkin' Sun anyway. :p
