I just watched Day of the Doved remastered. What a joke! They cut way too much out of the original episode. I mean they are on the planet then go to opening credits, a commercial then they are in the briefing room holding swords!!!!

this is how it was in my area too (Los Angeles, KTLA). It was very frustrating and disappointing.

What prevented them from beaming personnel from the sealed off areas, anyway?

Now now. Remember this ISN'T TNG.
They even used inter-ship beaming in the episode to get Kirk to Engineering; but as Spock said:
"It has rarely been done because of the extreme danger. Pinpoint accuracy is need and if the coordinates are slightly off, one could find oneself materialized in a bulkhead..."

ENTERPRISE did intership beaming decades earlier in CHOSEN REALM
Bah, now you've done it; my head's exploded.number6 said:

Where do you think Kirk got the idea?

As opposed to the danger of being materialized into a planet's surface? And in DAY OF THE DOVE they would be beaming people from parts of the ship onto the transporter pad, which would seem safer than what Kirk did. Assuming they could get a lock on them, which the entity probably would've prevented or some shit.
