Because if there's one thing ``The Omega Glory'' really needs to be perfect, it's a cut-and-restored scene that would add complete gibberish to the Trek timeline.

Desilu and Paramount were happy to send all offcuts to Lincoln Enterprises, where diligent workers cut the film into clip frames, which fans bought by the handful to mount into slides.
I've noticed it too--thought I was the only one!
Star Trek 11 is screwing with the timeline in real life. Didn't Roddenberry "lift" the clips from storage to sell them?
And then there's my favorite Day of the Dove blooper, the plasma conduit terminal that turns into a spittoon, then back again:

No, that is a myth and one that was perpetuated by Justman in his book. According to Bjo Trimble (and as Therin said), when the series was "through" with the film (mainly work prints but also some internegatives), the bulk of it was given to Lincoln. However, some of the film was directly dumpstered by Lincoln, and several of my friends who lived near them in those days have told me that they were able to "dive" and find strips of clappers, efx footage, etc. Lucky stiffs....

No, no, no - it was a spittoon, and it pivoted on its arm in order to deploy, just as designed. Too bad that the sensors that were convinced that Kirk was about to spit were in error that day.
(I wonder if they cut that line because they realized at the last moment that what had originally made sense when the script was for a pilot episode was now a continuity error? That the preceding episodes had in the meantime established that TOS was not taking place thousands of years after Earth's early space program? Or was it just a lucky coincidence that they ended up removing the bit that wouldn't have worked?)

Clears up the Yang Konehead muddle, that perplexed me, and shows that somebody was thinking about continuity and TREK rationalism of a sort before Berman came along.

It's probably in the same place as the lost scene in the garden during Elaan of Troyius. Maybe they can both be reincorporated. If not, they could have Chris Pine, Quinto, etc... redo them and add them to future releases.
...Although instead of references to Earth's early space program, there should be references to Earth's early experiments with time travel. Otherwise, the US Constitution couldn't have made it to a full millennium before Kirk's time. Hell, the US Constitution wouldn't even have been written yet when the old Kohm/Yang war was fought!

Come to think of it, somone here wanted to buy them, and I lost track of the deal...
"Omega" blows chunks, but were that full scene and dialogue restored the episode would make a TAD bit more sense(if not much)...if little else. Tiny things like that can save an episode from total, irretrievable shitdom.
