David Walliams - crap actor - tipped as Tennant's replacement

If this happens, I'll regrettably have to part company with Doctor Who and switch my allegiance to The Archers or something.

Who the fuck thinks this is a good idea?

Ok ok ok, so people with shitty abysmal sketch shows have gone on to shine in Who (Tate, obviously - she's a brilliant actress) but this smarmy faced, unfunny, downsy looking cunt is not Doctor material. Hell, he'd even drag the show down as a guest star.

(disclaimer: post contains hyperbole - if this upsets you, tell someone who cares)

Oh God please no! I do actually find Little Britain amusing (half the time) but the few occasions I've seen Walliams do straight acting he's...well he's just been Walliams again! Off the top of my head I'm pretty sure I could name dozens, nay hundreds of people I'd rather see be Who before him!

This has to be BS though, Moffat never struck me as the type to love stunt casting as much as Rusty.

And even then, ol' Russ would refrain from stunt-casting the title role.

apparently Matt Lucas will be in the Archers...

Dammit! No radio 4 farming soap for me.

Talking of Matt Lucas, I'm well excited about new Shooting Stars.

Much like Pateron Joseph, I don't put much faith in any early announcements. If the pess had their way anyone who was British, reasonably well known and could stand upright would be qualified to announce for the show.

The worst example of the media frenzy was Tennant saying anyone could take the role, even Billie Piper. Of course headlines then stated she'd be the next Doctor...

...though I wonder, if I call the press and say I wouldn't turn it down... would I be tipped as the next Doctor? ;)

By repeating this story I'm in no way endorsing its accuracy. It's obviously utter nonsense, I just wanted to know if anyone actually thought this was plausable and/or (gulp) a good idea.

Thing is, there's about as much basis for this story as there is for the other.

i can now announce, I will be the new Doctor. a new kind of Doctor. a Doctor who will be funny, without being a hamster on crack, a Doctor who pulls chicks not through his boysih good looks, but from his brain the size of a planet, a Doctor who will not wear a stupid 'costume', but will wear baseball caps.

and Jeri Ryan's my companion...

I'm very tempted to put up an announcement on my site telling the world I'm the new doctor. Shockingly I know one fan who would believe it.

Edit: Actually... done... I'm sure a lot of people will miss the joke.

Walliams is my favorite of the Little Britain guys, but I've never seen him in anything non-comedic, so he wouldn't be my first choice for the next Doctor.

Really? The last series was shite. I saw some classic episodes on Dave a while back, and it hadn't aged well. I'm not optimistic.

On the Walliams story, it's clearly bollocks. Everyone knows it's Ppatterssonn Joseph (currently trying to be less charismatic than Julie Graham on BBC1's 'Survivors', and incredibly, succeeding [though RTD thinks he's "marvellous", so we're all buggered]).

The only thing I've seen him in that wasn't comedy was his portrayal of Frankie Howard. I'll link a snippet (the only clip I could find) and let you make your own judgment ;)

I didn't know about this until seeing an ad for it a few days ago. I don't know why they're bothering, both the show and the hosts are past their prime. I'm not sure if it's a one off or not - but I hope so.

Hmmmm, funny I seem to recall a lot of bitching and moaning when Catherine Tate was announced.

*reads the news story* Well, that was pointless.

In fairness to Patterson Joseph he's playing as part of an ensemble and he's hardly playing a Doctor like character. It's no susprise that his best performance of the series was the one where he was essentially out on his own with his own storyline. God imagine if Tennant was in the show running around going whoo whoo whoo and gurning half the time (course the other half the time he'd be brilliant)

BTW does it matter what RTD thinks? Surely it only matters what Moffat thinks? Although the two men do seem on the same page, with Moffat pretty much saying he'd have hired Tennant too (never heard what he thought of Eccleston)

Patterson Joseph, Daniel Craig of the Whoniverse?

What can I say? I can't get enough of Vic and Bob.

Well yeah, I just found it so absurd I had to post it.

He's the best thing about that piece of shit show by a country mile imho, and it's hardly a 100% representative example of his work.

Not from me you didn't. ;)

Thing is, I've seen some of his serious stuff - remember that Frankie Howard drama? He was shit.

in today's Mirror, RTD's being quoted as saying it's time for a woman and thinks either Lesley Sharp (Sky Silvestry in Midnight) or Catherine Zeta Jones should do it...

there's also a spoiler for TND
all nine previous Doctors appear in flashbacks

Though I suspect a lot of people will be expecting more than we actually get after reading that report.
