Acclaimed Scottish actor David Tennant (Doctor Who) has been confirmed to play the lead role in Single Father, an emotionally powerful yet funny four-part drama for BBC One about a man struggling to raise his four children after the death of his wife, made by Red Production Company through BBC Scotland.

I figured he would stay in the USA, and try and get himself attached to a pilot, but I guess that is not the case.

not sure depends on the show, 2 or 3 months would be my guess.

Still its the commitment he has made, if he was to get attached to a pilot now, he would be expected to filming it & possible series soonish.

I guess he filmed as much of "Rex is not your lawyer" as he could. Since it wasn't picked up for the spring(but there's a chance for fall) he figured he has enough time to film this drama.

It's only a 4-part mini-series. That's no different than a TV movie. Actors sneak these projects in all the time. We're not talking about a full season of Doctor Who or an 18-month project like Lord of the Rings. I don't see the issue. Good on BBC Scotland for giving him a meaty part.

Red Production Company's first production was Queer as Folk, and they've done several other Russell Davies series, including Bob & Rose and The Second Coming.

All this talk reminds me of that youtube clip of Tom Baker in an episode of Remington Steele. That was just the saddest thing you ever saw.

Sounds interesting. I have to admit I was a bit thrown off at first when I read "Newton, Isaacs."
