David S Goyer to write next Batman movie!

Better yet, they could bring in the Anti-Monitor and have Bale Batman team up with Batman of Earth 14 and Batman of Earth 65 to stop him. And then at the end, when all seems lost, all the Batmans of all the Earths will appear out of nowhere and bring him down. Infinite Batmans everywhere.

Win. If they don't do this, I am boycotting.

The Riddler can be an excellent character (as shown in Batman: The Animated Series), so I'm fine with this choice.

I do like the idea of David Tennant as the Riddler...he'd be excellent! The Penguin has kind of been used as a mob boss in the recent comics and I have always liked the Philip Seymour Hoffman as Cobblepot rumors. I'd think he'd be awesome. Since we're speculating here I too wouldn't mind seeing Hugo Strange. I could see some really interesting psychological stuff being explored through Strange's character and Bruce.

I agree with the suggestion for Hugo Strange, though not as the primary antagonist. If they used him in a way similar to the early 90s story Prey, that could work well.

I'd still love to see the Riddler as I'd like to see that character done justice on the big screen. Same with Poison Ivy, but definitely not in the way she's been portrayed in recent years.

Mr. Freeze would also make an excellent villain (following the Batman: the Animated series background).

Okay, so we need our cast. Here is mine:

Riddler: David Tennant
Egghead: David H. Lawrence XVII
Penguin: Dick Cheney
Mr. Freeze: Patrick Stewart

They did that with Batman & Robin. It was a smashing success.

:shifty:

Seriously though, Mr. Freeze is a bit too much of a fantastical villain for the universe that Nolan has set up here.

Bob Hoskins as the Penguin. There can be no other choice.

Somebody, maybe on mi6 forums, suggested Neil Patrick Howard for Riddler. I haven't seen his current sitcom, but he was very impressive as a yuppie video guy paying drunks to beat each other to death on an episode of BOOMTOWN several years back.

Edit addon: are there any BatVillains who are supposed to be good-looking guys? Just wondering if there'd be a role for Jon Hamm somewhere, since 007 is unfortunately taken for the moment.

Superman?

He's a Bat-Villain at times...when controlled by others...or written by Frank Miller...

I love David Tennant (nearly cried during his regeneration scene) but while he can do understated (not least of all during his DW swansong) I'm pretty sure that his take on the Riddler would be in the mould of Gorshin and Carrey. I want to see the Riddler played as a creepy, smart, smug sociopath. Someone like David Hyde-Pierce or the guy who plays Ben Linus in Lost.
As much as I would like to see David Tennant as The Riddler, I agree Michael Emerson of Lost would be excellent.

I'd like to see the Riddler, but make it a more serious character and not a Frank Gorshin / Jim Carrey silly silly remake. Bring on David Tennant! ;)
Best. Idea. Ever.
Indeed. It was David Tennant's idea. He said in an interview either last year or the year before that he would love to play The Riddler.

Ok, trevanian brought up Jon Hamm, I was thinking just yesterday, that Jon Hamm could play Hush/Tommy Elliot.

And Paul Giamatti as the Ventriloquist.

Out of My Vulcan Mind has sold me on Christina Hendricks as Poison Ivy. I think she would be a great Pamela Isly and not over the top like Uma Thurman did. Neil Patrick Harris as The Riddler? That's an interesting choice, he probably could pull it off. I could see him in the green suit. I still like Rachel Weisz to play Selena Kyle/Catwoman especially the way she's drawn in "The Long Halloween" and "The Dark Victory" Tim Sale's version of Selena is maybe my favorite.

Neil Patrick "Howard" should hold out for Riddler--The Gay Musical on Broadway. A guaranteed Tony winner.

Jon Hamm can play Killer Croc, handsome advertising exec by day, hideous reptilian monster by night. In the film, Croc and his assistant Peggy start a crime wave, forcing the Gotham police to call off their hunt for Batman.
