David Ogden Stiers RIP

Wow... I'm so very sorry to hear this. Bladder cancer! That's quite shocking, as in recent years the medical technologies to address it have improved dramatically. My mother is a bladder cancer survivor. Thankfully in her case, it was caught early... and while she had her bladder removed (much to her dismay), it hadn't spread very far. She had a hysterectomy as a precaution. Finally got used to the ostomy bag. Lifestyle is very good, very mobile. No sign of recurrence. I guess in David's case, he must've had the misfortune of it being detected very late. :(

Charles: What that boy went through right there! He was dead. Haven't you the slightest bit of curiosity about what lies beyond?

BJ: No, I figure I'll find out soon enough.

Charles: Well, you may be able to cloak yourself in denial, but I am not afraid to face up to the harshest reality of all.

Like so many others, I loved him in M*A*S*H and thought he did an absolutely brilliant job in his one TNG appearance. As it's not been mentioned yet, I must also give him credit for his role as Al Meyer in one of my favorite comedies, Better Off Dead. (Adding to the Trek connection, in that film his wife Jenny was played by Kim Darby, TOS' Miri.)

RIP.

I could claim noble reasons as coming out in order to move gay rights forward, but I must admit it is for far more selfish reasons. Now is the time I wish to find someone and I do not desire to force any potential partner to live a life of extreme discretion for me.
That doesn't sound selfish to me at all. It sounds humble, courageous, & selfless, imho

Exceptionally accomplished actor, musician, & orchestral conductor. A true champion of the arts at their finest. The world is less rich for his absence from it. RIP

I just had to watch Fade Out, Fade In today.

I love that episode where Charles is using a tape recorder to dictate a letter home. At one point, he's seen tipping a teapot to pour tea into a cup but nothing comes out. He puts down the tape recorder microphone and opens up the teapot to see what's wrong and pull out a rubber chicken that either Hawkeye and/or B.J. put in there. Kills me every time.

This is another case of the Mandela Effect as I read that David Ogden Stiers died a few years ago! RIP anyway!
