David Mack - Gilmore Girls Aficionado?!?!

Quark's Lobe

Commander
Red Shirt
Allow me to get in touch with my feminine side for a moment... So I'm reading along through Vanguard: Harbinger (great book, by the way), and I come across a paragraph where Kirk beams down with two redshirts: Scott Danes and Luke Patterson. For those of you too cool for Gilmore Girls, see this for reference: Scott/Luke. Mr. Mack quickly proceeds to have one of these two characters violently dispatched. I showed this to my wife, a huge GG fan, and she was very intrigued. So the question is: Is the appearence of Danes and Patterson an admiring homage to Gilmore Girls, or a clever denouncement of the show/character? :wtf:

This has actually come up before, though maybe on a different board. Yes, The Luke Danes & Scott Patterson characters are a two-part homage to the actor and character from Gilmore Girls, a show that my wife and I watched together. Also inspired by GG was the residential community on Starbase 47, Stars Landing (which exists in a hollow enclosure, i.e., Stars Hollow).

I never liked that Logan. He wasn't good enough for Rory. Every time he called her "Ace" I would cringe. Good riddance to him, I say.

^^ Very cool! GG was such a great show. I also noticed that you managed to include a Captain "Kirk" in your book, a clear nod to GG's Kirk!

As a guy with a vested interest, please ,please do not give in to any temptation to name any potential new female characters Rory. The name means "the red-haired king " -RUAIRI in Irish, not very girly. And yes, it is my name.

But feel free to name any characters after me. I think T'erpette would make a nice Vulcan name.

Yeah, what kind of man would want to spend an hour a week looking at Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel?

You can do that with the mute on and get all the benefit without the side effects, you know.

Yes, I'm teasing. Stop giving your monitors that look. I can tell.

And for the latter, there's always Sin City, which tends to score higher with the Machismo Advisory and Legislative Executive. ;)

T'Rpet or T'Pet would be a more accurate Vulcan name :)
