I love Vanguard, i know Mack got early scripts and we know about Kirsten. I hope its similar. I was really thinking before the reveal last night that this was all a prelude to the Genesis Project.

I tweeted the same thought last night. I don’t have any problem with the idea that they used VAN as inspiration, if thats true. To me that just confirms that Treklit is the richest area of Star Trek storytelling, and has been for some time.

And with that being said, its unfortunate that the tv show has interferred with the production of the novels for the last year or so, and will probably continue to do so in smaller ways continuing on.

I was getting some Reyes vibes from captain Lorca. I like to think the two of them were sharing a room when they were cadets.

^I dunno about that. Reyes was troubled by being ordered to bend the rules and eventually stood up and did the right thing when it went too far. So far Lorca seems like the type who actively looks for excuses to break the rules. If anything, he reminds me more of Calhoun than Reyes. There's something a bit Peter David-like about this crew of misfits and weirdos, although they'd be making more corny jokes if Peter wrote them.
