“Shut up Wesley!” Picard snapped.
Wesley raised an eyebrow. Any respect he had for his Captain evaporated in that moment. Wesley stood up and made his way to the Turbolift doors.
“And just where do you think you're going, young man?” His mother curtly demanded.
“You have not been dismissed, Mr. Crusher. Return to your station at once!” Picard added. His raising anger was becoming more apparent with this blatant display of insubordination.
Wesley stared at his mother and the Captain, his disdain plain on his face.
“I'm going down to the shuttlebay, getting on a shuttle and leaving the Enterprise before Lore here blows it up.” He gestured to the android with a nod of his head. Wesley walked into the open Turbolift.
“Wesley Crusher, I am your mother and--” Beverly's scolding was cut off.
“In about ten minutes,” Wesley replied coldly, “You'll be nothing more than a cloud of particulate matter drifting through space. So will everyone else on board the Enterprise. So will the Enterprise. So... toodles.”
“How dare you!” Picard started to shout, “If you don't--”
