Data or Harry Kim at Ops

Now I feel slightly bad about dissing Harry Kim.

Whereas Harry Kim wore on my nerves inside of two episodes.

Well, at least Harry has the courtesy to pay for his annoying nature by dying every now and then.
Data just multiplies. And reboots.
Funny you should mention this, but I just watched the episode "Eminations" where Harry is transported to that world where people think he came back from the dead...and he comes back to Voyager, well, dead.
My initial reasoning for choosing Harry was the human factor. Data's a cool cat and would be an asset to any crew, and if I could have both I would. But sometimes you need the human factor to work through problems. Data just thinks to linearly sometimes. I would still love to have Data as a crew member, but I still think I would choose Harry for Ops. I hope everyone understands what I was trying to say.

Love the bolded part, great idea. I thought they combined the two a lot as well...this is why I'm confused as to what the position actually is supposed to do.

Oh, that whole Duplicate Harry thing makes my head hurt thinking about it. 
Only if the EMH/ECH has a mobile emitter; otherwise it's just an extension of the ship's main computer, and if it's damaged or off line, he' out. Data has no such limitation. And he's tougher than most of the crew of any starship.
Besides, using EMH/ECH's, would render a crew unecessary. Holograms could run the ship.
Too bad Voyager never really followed up on Duplicate Harry. Having him deal with that off and on ever so often would have made Harry a bit more interesting.
I suppose if they served on the same ship, they could both work at Ops. Though theoretically you could have Data there 24/7, and he did appear to work double shifts+ somtimes: he's always on the bridge for the Picard/Riker shift, and then he would be in the Captain's chair on "overnights".
I voted Data between the two. He seems to be able to do more from Ops, and faster. Though the comment about Harry at Ops and Data at Science I, I also like. But I really want to see a blue uniform at Science.
