Darth Maul Prequel fan film

I really want to like these types of fan films, I really really do, but despite all the dedication & skill in the costume, make-up, visual effects and just pure *heart* departments...the acting always kills it for me.
Totally respect these guys for doing this though, damn near professional quality work.

I was very impressed by the quality of the this production. There was a lot of polish to it, including Maul's opening shot standing in a sphere of holos, which is interesting design choice. Many design choices that were a bit unique, and expanded ideas that have been in Star Wars but really unexplored.

The choreography is very creative, and quite well done. There are several unique moves, and moments that capture the intensity of a rather desperate fight. It highlights a lot of the Jedi weaknesses from the PT, their hubris and ignorance of what a Sith warrior actually means.

As with most fan productions the acting is the weakest part. As much as I can appreciate the hard work going in to such a project and operating with whomever you get, I not totally sold on all of the actors as Jedi.

All told though, it was an impressive film. I hope they do more.

Mediocre acting, crappy cinematography, but what really killed it for me was the Darth Sidious voice-actor. Would have been amazing, if the director had just asked him to down-play it a bit. His performance was way over the top.

I just saw it on my TV and I thought it was excellent. Professional looking production values and the acting isn't as stilted as what we got in the prequel trilogy.

One of my larger frustrations is the fact that I knew all the Jedi were going to die, and that never changed. I know that it is kind of a cliche that at least one good guy/gal survives, which means I wonder what would be more subversive-a Jedi surviving to escape, or Maul killing all the heroes. Given that Maul is the main character, I would lean towards a Jedi escaping.
