Darned, I've been Drafted by AYSO Again

Dag nabbit!! I was hoping to haul my kids to AYSO and sit in the lawn chair and watch this year, but NOOOOOOO! I received a call on Saturday night saying they needed volunteers and wouldn't I PLEEASE HELP. Sucker that I am I said yes again, for the third straight year.

OK, maybe I'm not complaining that much, but it would sure be nice to see other parents step forward. I mean, full time work, trying to finish a Master's degree and everything else I'd like to do you'd think that I'd have the backbone to say no.

Dag nabbit. Well, at least maybe we can have a winning season this year. I just don't think that I'm that great of a coach, although I am encouraging and supportive I'd be a much better baseball or football coach. I understand those games much better.

Nomad, it sucks that other parents don't pitch in, but both you and your kids will benefit from the time spent together. They grow up way too fast. I'd kill to have those days back. ENJOY!

My kids have played soccer through school and the local Y, but I've never heard of AYSO either.

Both of my kids did soccer for one year. I don't remember it being known as AYSO. But anyway, soccer was the worst of all the sports that they did. It had the longest seasons, you played in the worst weather and the games always took an eternity.

I was so happy when they each never wanted to play again after those first years!

Somehow I knew it would be soccer without even Googling it. I don't remember where I saw AYSO from but I figured it must be sports and soccer was the first one to come to mind.

I just finished another year of coaching soccer and I swear (as I do every year) that it will be my LAST year. I sooo want to be one of the parents on the side lines who does nothing but bitch and complain.
