Is this show any good? I was thinking of watching it soon and I wanted to hear your opinons.

I liked it. I only got to see a couple first season episodes tho and most of the second season. I started watching because of Nana Visitor doing some shows on it. Some feel it's too dark a picture of the world but I think some of the Trek producers who were working on it helped show some humanity in the characters. While I didn't care for the on/off relationship of Max and Logan, it did provide a nice look in the transgenics trying to live peacefully in the world through Max, Alec, and Joshua. White was an interesting foil for Max to keep locking horns with. Some of the shows were a little too over the top like the Halloween one but overall an interesting show to watch in reruns or rent on dvd.

It wasn't a bad show. People will argue over whether or not S2 was any good as the tone changed quite a bit and a number of new characters were introduced but personally I thought it progressed nicely from S1 and was very enjoyable overall. Adding Jensen Ackles to the cast was a big boost for the show IMO, and the James Cameron-directed finale was pretty awesome and tied up the story reasonably well considering it wasn't really intended as a 'series' finale.

Overall it is worth checking out IMO.

I enjoyed it very much. Give it a shot.

(I found a website a long time ago that had a "virtual" season three and one or two eps for a season four. was pretty good, but can't remember the site).

I really enjoyed the show. The writing was not something you'd ever compare to the X-Files or BSG, or Dr. Who, but interesting nonetheless.

The way they created the "broken world" in Seattle was pretty cool. I agree with Mr. J's assessment of the addition of Jensen Ackles to the cast as a regular. He turns in a great one off appearance in a standalone season 1 episode.

Season 2 had way too much of the very annoying Joshua but I liked it a lot. They were headed somewhere really interesting at the end.

Oh, and there is always the absolutely gorgeous and oh so charming Jessica Alba, if nothing else. :D

I really enjoyed the show and was sad it was canceled. the two seasons have distinct strengths but both are pretty dark and gritty. for me, season two (other than the dogboy eps) is the better one. I'd be interested to see what you think. if you see it, come back and tell us your thoughts.

btw, Nana Visitor (DS9's Kira) has a very interesting (though short) guest role. and I also agree with the others that Jensen Ackles was fantastic as Alec. I only wish he'd had a more meaty role rather then being used as comic relief in much of his scenes. even in those he showed depth and strength.

I really liked the show. I thought the first season was the best of the two though I did like season 2. Season 2 did lots of X-Men type stories " mutants fighting for a society that hates them" which was a little too much of something I had read in the comics over and over so it was a bit of a re-tred. The stuff involving an ancient cult was more interesting that season.

I missed the prescence of John Savage and Nana Visitor in season 2. Their characters were written out of the show in season 2 because Fox wanted a younger cast. The finale was great but it left us with a number of open plots sadly though the commentary on the episode does provide some idea on where the story was going. The dangling plot threads were wrapped up in 2 novels. There were actually three but the first one was a prequel.

Plus the show starred Jessica Alba. :techman: :techman:

Season 1 was awesome. Season 2 was not. Bringing in Vincent from Beauty and the Beast was a silly move, and gave us silly episodes.

I also hated the "Moonlighting" motif with Max and Logan, which began in S1 and became ridiculous by the end of the season.

But overall it was a great concept, Jessica was probably the sexiest thing on TV at the time, and the show was mostly very enjoyable.

overall it was ok but a little dull - especially the less than convincing romantic thing between Alba and the wheel chair guy. This is not a knock on romantic subplots which can be ok but these two didn't do it for me.

the series has its moments but surprisingly few of them. I thought jensen ackles made a good addition to the show as it progressed but the crossbreed characters introduced in S2 was a mistake and made it seem like a "mutant of the week" thing.

Season One was pretty good... started off average but developed a good storyarc towards the end of the season with recurring characters and stories. Alba was gorgeous.

Season Two was meh... bunch of silly animal-mutants introduced, a weird ancient cult introduced... Alba got longer straighter hair and lost half her hotness. Plus the silly excuse to keep the couple apart. I recall the Cameron finale being great though!

the second season wasn't that good but the last episode was ok, with a nice clifhanger as to what will happen to the 700 odd transgenics.

I'll reiterate what's been said...loved the first season, and the second season, with the exception of the add of Alec, was pretty mediocre.

This is the series that gave us...Michael Weatherly
