What IYO, is the darkest and lightest Trek episodes, including all series and films...

Some of the lightest, I think, would have to be "Take Me Out to the Holosuite" and "The Trouble With Tribbles."

Darkest...depends on what sense. If it's morally dark, I'd say "In the Pale Moonlight."

If we're going to go in the tearjerker sense...oh man, "Ties of Blood and Water." I bawled like a baby at the end.

I'd agree, for me, In The Pale Moonlight shows a different side of Sisko and Garak that has only really been hinted at before. And The Siege of AR 558 because I think it shows the horror of the war on the front lines for a lot of soldiers.

Oh man, I TOTALLY forgot about AR-558. That episode was excellent...really drove home what those casualty lists were all about.
