Nearly a year ago, I posted a thread about an online quiz (a fun thing, no doubt) in which after answering a series of questions, I would determine which level of the Inferno (according to Dante Alighieri's The Divine Comedy) I would end up when I died.

The original thread, now too old to resurrect, can be found here and is quite a fascinating read. Quite a lot of heretics out there in the TrekBBS, it seems. :lol:

It's been nearly 12 months, and my life has changed a lot during this time, and I thought to myself, "OK, circumstances and my world view have changed a lot, would it affect the outcome of this test again?" So I had another go at the test.

Back in November 2008, I got this result:

First Level of Hell - Limbo

Charon ushers you across the river Acheron, and you find yourself upon the brink of grief's abysmal valley. You are in Limbo, a place of sorrow without torment. You encounter a seven-walled castle, and within those walls you find rolling fresh meadows illuminated by the light of reason, whereabout many shades dwell. These are the virtuous pagans, the great philosophers and authors, unbaptised children, and others unfit to enter the kingdom of heaven. You share company with Caesar, Homer, Virgil, Socrates, and Aristotle. There is no punishment here, and the atmosphere is peaceful, yet sad.

The breakdown in terms of where in Hell, who gets sent there, and how strong my answers corresponded to these levels:

This time, I have remained in Limbo, with the exact same breakdown as before. So, I guess a year of personal upheval hasn't really changed my underlying afterlife status (according to Dante). :bolian:

I'm not sure why I've scored "Very High" on violent. :wtf: Looking at the questions, I don't like violent video games and movies, I haven't been in any physical fights, don't often lost my temper, don't intentionally harm others, I don't wish bad things on people, I don't hate a lot of people or take pleasure in their misery, I don't think "bombing the hell" out of other countries is a great idea, or that some people just have a punch coming...where is this violence score coming from? It's kind of weirding me out! I even took the test again to make sure I answered the way I intended. Weird.

Other than that, I'm a virtuous but lustful and slightly malicious heretic with just a hint of gluttony, but I'm very loyal! :)
 
Quite a smorgasbord of sins there, TSQ. :bolian: Interestingly, I do like violent computer games (or at least I used to), but also I don't like, or do, or wish for the other things you mentioned, yet I scored low on Violent. Interestingly, I'm not as heretical as I am treacherous and fraudulent. Relatively speaking of course. :guffaw:

Of course, although answering the questions truthfully will make things more interesting, in the end the quiz is all just for fun and not to be taken seriously. I mean, it's not like we're destined to go to these places in reality. Are we? :eek: (Not that I mind Limbo, it seems like a quite fun place, really. :D)

It'll be interesting to see if anyone has improved or worsened their Afterlife status in the last 10 and a half months, comparing their results from previously. :)

Seems like we can open up a 'City of Dis' club here. Well, at least our place in hell has a cool name. I'm suprised I scored 'Moderate' on Level 8. That's probably I wish harm to my fellow countrymen... ;)

I thought it was pretty funny that the poll chose 'Purgatory' for me, since I'm Lutheran and we don't believe in purgatory. :lol:

Although there is a really cool TV-movie Western with that name. :)
