So, is Rodriguez doing this before or after his recently-announced reboot of Predator? Between the two projects, it sounds like he's going to be a very busy guy.

Machete is set to begin production in June. So that will probably be first. I don't know how far along into the pre-production phase Predators is, but Fox has set a release date of July 7, 2010, which may or may not change based on Rodriguez's schedule.

Either way, this news certainly made my weekend! Rodriguez has a pretty awesome slate of films coming up.

Looks like this thing is going to have an impressive cast.

Robert Rodriguez has cast Jessica Alba, Robert De Niro, Michelle Rodriguez, Lindsay Lohan, Cheech Marin, Jeff Fahey, Don Johnson and Steven Seagal alongside Danny Trejo in the spin-off action flick, Machete.

Oh god, I loved the Grindhouse movies (admittedly, Planet Terror more than Death Proof), and when I saw this fake trailer I thought it was amazing and wanted to see a feature length film. I heard this was to be apart of a second Grindhouse feature with both Tarantino and Rodriguez making two separate films, but Tarantino was busy on Inglourious Basterds, so we're left with the one movie to complete a Grindhouse trilogy .
