a crashing plane is much more likely to kill many spectators. that's why.
WHAT an ugly day in racing. Fortunately, this doesn't happen very often any more. Still, in 30 years of watching all kinds of racing, that was one of the worst wrecks I've ever seen. The tribute laps were also among the saddest moments I've seen at a race track.

There is always room for safet improvements in Motor Sport, unfortunatly more often than not it takes a death for things to happen. As for claims people watch Motor Sports for the crashes, If that is so why is F1 with few crashes the most watched Motor Sport in the world?
