Damon is not Kirk

Matt Damon has been in my part of the world, and lst night was asked point blank about being Captain Kirk in the new film.

He said "I called JJ to ask what's going on, and he said 'No way man, you're way too old".

Just passing that on for Trektoday or Future of Trek or wherever you want it :thumbsup:

Found a news article verifying this.

However, he says while not ruling out a fourth film for the franchise, it's about as likely as industry rumours that he will play a young Captain Kirk in a new Star Trek film being true.

"I actually finally called JJ Abrams, who's directing (the new Star Trek film) and said 'Dude, what going on?' He's like, 'You're way too ... old, you're like 15 years too old to play Captain Kirk in this movie."

Didn't Damon issue a point blank denial a while back? Anyway I've been discounting him for a while. For one thing, he looks too obviously much older than Quinto. They need a Kirk who can pass for 30. Damon is young-looking but not to that extent.

I thought this would be big news seeing every second rumour pointed to him being Kirk...oh well just passing it along.
