Damn You, Murray Gold!

Oh good for a moment there I thought there was news he was not going to release the specials soundtrack, that we are still waiting for! lol

It's been stuck in my head since "The Eleventh Hour" as well and I too thought this was news on the specials soundtrack. Methinks we are not going to get any news on a score until after series five has concluded.

What piece of music is this new theme? Where does it turn up in "The Eleventh Hour"?

It turns up periodically after the "I've got 20 minutes to save the Earth" bit, but is most prominent in the scenes leading up to and on the hospital roof.

The neverending beat. It's constantly in my head!

The theme is officially/unofficially "The Doctor's Theme" for the eleventh doctor.

Search around youtube for other unofficial music(until the soundtrack) like "Amy's theme"

Love that. Kinda makes you wish Murray would have the chance to write a theme for each Doctor (although Tom Baker already has that little nine note tune that popped up during seasons 16-17)

The bit starting at 2:27 has always struck me as hinting at perhaps just a touch of insanity. Madman with a box, indeed.....

That's the one! Love that big brassy finish. :)

That is a great piece of music, and it plays really well over the montage of past Doctors. It's probably also going to turn off a lot in the trailers as it has that "All Those Strange Strange Creatures" vibe to it.

I feel sad for the folks who absolutely hate Gold's music. As far as I'm concerned his music is the 4th lead character in the series, after the Doctor, the companion, and the TARDIS. He's the only soundtrack composer whose albums I can listen to repeatedly, unlike most of the others whose incidental music for TV too often is unmemorable muzak.

I didn't like most of his work on the first couple of series, but since then he has improved a lot, not to mention the overly loud incidental music which often drowned out dialogue was toned down by then - helps me appreciate it more when it's not so intrusive.

Heh, it really is quite good. I sat listening to it repeatedly last night.

And thanks to that link, even more today!

It's a fantastic piece of music and I love it to bits! If only the main theme had been anywhere near as good!
