Damien Lewis as Bond?

Doctorwhovian

Fleet Captain
The Band of Brothers and Homeland actor has been in some speculation that he might be up for the role when Daniel Craig retires.

I haven't seen him in too much stuff, and what I have seen he didn't have his natural british accent. He's not really that much younger than Craig, but I suppose it could still work out. He does have a bit of a Bond connection already, his wife Helen McCrory played a small role in Skyfall as the lady who puts M on trial. (Famously it was Brosnan's late wife Cassandra Harris who introduced him to the Bond producers in the early 80s).

Of course another contender is reortedly Idris Elba, but I think Lewis is fairly new in the running.

Although all this could be too soon, I think Craig has at least one film after SPECTRE in his contract.

He actually has two films in his contract after SPECTRE if I recall correctly. That could change at any time though I suppose. There's been some speculation that he might bow out after this one, but we'll see.

Both too old - you are look at maybe 2020 for the first film of the new bond, by the time of the second, he's heading towards his mid-50s and too old.

If Craig sticks around for two more films he could potentially be the longest serving Bond of them all. Moore would still have him beat in film number, but that's only because they were on a regular two year recycle cycle back then.
