Damages (TV series) cancelled

News for the five people that were watching the show.

It's sad that such a critically lauded television show can face death for something as silly as ratings. Such is the way of the world, though, and FX's Damages is no exception. The third season of the network's mystery has been receiving abysmal ratings. The show has been averaging under a million viewers per episode (yikes!) and in the key 18-49 demographic it's only managed a .2. Yeah, that is as bad as you think it is. That's why FX decided to pull the plug on their critically acclaimed series and not renew it for a fourth season. And who can blame them, right?

I definitely don't like those shows, but Damages just wasn't far enough away from them to keep me interested. Maybe I just find the entire legal profession boring.

I'd say it's about as far away from them as The Shield is from Miami Vice.

Damn. I had heard they were trying to work something out with DirecTV to have a fourth season. It's an expensive show though....too bad, it's one of my favourites. This season has been a lot less dense and more accessible too, which I thought might help save the ratings a bit. Ah well... :(

Awwww damn. I just finished watching S1 and it was pure win. S2 starts out slow but it appears to be building up. It's a totally twisted show and I love how it builds a fantastic mystery while pushing your expectations down one path before smacking you upside the head and going off in another direction. The actors in it are great and it's really well shot too. Well, at least it made 3 years, that's longer than some shows with bigger ratings than this get!

I'm not surprised. I loved it in Season 1, started to slip in Season 2, and DVRed Season 3 but I haven't watched a single episode. Actually, come to think of it, I deleted the season yesterday while cleaning up my DVR without watching a single ep.

So, its all your fault, huh?

Never watched the show, 'cause I was hopin' Glenn Close would come back to The Shield...it may be time to pick up the DVDs.

So the Direct TV thing fell though. It wins awards and that's the only reason it was on this long.
