Who cares...the E just looks better and thats all I care about...I could care-a-less where the engines and the dooohickies are. That is in the category of 'technobabble' and is the kind of logic, IMO, that started TREK down the path to the "DARK SIDE" or...oblivion..

As has already been said a zillion times, it's all personal opinion. I like both ships. But I really liked the E-D because I grew up watching TNG and it had really become an important part of what TNG was for me. E-E is a sharp little war machine designed to look hot and deadly and it does that well. That's not really what the TNG series was about though.
And, there was a lot more to the "fall of Trek" than just Voyager's endless technobabble nonsense. It includes the writers just running out of story ideas. Kinda like where Stargate has been since season 5 of the first show.
It is still rather strange to have engines that produce absolutely massive thrust lining up with other parts of the ship going aft. Not much "technobabble" about that. For me, that kind of thing wanders towards science fantasy instead of harder science fiction.
