Custom LEGO Nova-class Starship Playset

So I really raised the bar today on what I can build with LEGOs! Up until now, I've only been able to build starship models on miniature scale, but I wanted to push my boundaries and build a starship playset with an interior space. I wanted it to look like it was close to minifigure scale, and I wanted a small ship that could land but was still a starship.

So I chose the Nova-class Starship! Here's the exterior with a MegaBloks Picard for reference:





Now for the fun part: the top of the ship has pop-off panels that reveal the ship's interior rooms!

and in the ready room!



The ship even has a tiny engine room, complete with a warp core!



As icing on the cake, the ship has landing gear, although they don't look like they match the actual Nova's landing gear locations (the ship was too front heavy to put the landing gear in the belly of the stardrive)



Well, now I'm off to new adventures with my Nova-class Starship LEGO playset! Engage!

So I rebuilt the playset. Now it's a Steamrunner-class Starship!

This playset is very modular. Might turn it into several ships over the course of time.

Here is the complete exterior from the top...

Here are the three pieces: the upper plate (nacelles are built into the panel this time) along with the engineering section and the saucer.



The interior is mostly unchanged, just reshaped a bit in the forward section of the ready room and conference lounge. The engine room is now separate from the rest of the ship, and is connected via pylons to the nacelles. The Nova-class had a forward room that was just empty space that I removed.
