Curiosity-Class...

Seems a bit awkward looking. I'd have to see it from other angles before getting a better feel.

A lot of elements of this are quite cool. But I'm not sure I care for the pylons. They seem to lack purpose to their design.

I'm always a sucker for Galaxy class-style designs. I'm taking it that the "pod" above the ship is actually where the deflector is?

I would rather have seen this ship in First Contact instead of those godawful Alex Jaeger designs.

Thanks everyone...Yeah i'm working on the finalized other views, but meanwhile here are the roughies to get a better feel (note: proportions are not finalized on the sketches):

I love it myself. Glad you are still doing art. I love the wide stance.

Now you did your take on the McQuarrie Planet of the Titans wingship Enterprise, but I wonder if you might do some orthos of what McQuarrie's two paintings might have looked like fleshed out... http://whatculture.com/film/ralph-mcquarrie-the-canceled-star-trek-movie.php http://mehallo.com/blog/archives/7742

This looked closer to the Ken Adam version:

He keeps the rectangular central spine the same width all the way down

I think an argument can be made that Ralph wanted a thinner saucer more rounded at its edges: http://whatculture.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/Screen-shot-2012-03-08-at-21.23.19.png

I also think he had the rectangular spine taper a bit to the front ( it looks better that way.)

I hope you consider doing that as a three view.

I've been wanting to have that name used for quite some time!

Not so sure about the design herself. The shuttle-bay behind the main deflector seems rather awkward (though the Nebula class is guilty of doing a variation of the same thing). Same thing goes for the impulses mounted directly back, and there don't appear to be any other impulse drives (though I assume that there must be). Since you were able to, I would've had the shuttle-bay facing forward.

Not dissing the sketch work though, which is incredible and professional, as always.

Even the neck feels awkward. The design of the deflector mounting and add to that the neck tells be that this wouldn't be a great design to take into battle, because those two spots almost shout "shoot me", and severing even one of those areas would likely cripple the ship.

I do love the design of the nacelle pylons however, and how the sweep downwards, and then angle straight back up.

Hey, it's a long time without to hear news from you old friend. Welcome back Chris! :techman:
I think the pylons in the last sketch looks better, but the upper "neck" still looks strange in the actual shape.
