Cunning Linguists, time to show off!

1) French, obviously
2) English, if we can consider that putting English words together and hoping it makes sense is speaking English
3) German (5 years), I haven't speak German in the last 12 years so I forgot a lot.
4) I only know "te quiero" and "hijo de puta" in spanish. I'm promised to an interesting social life in Spain

I'd like to learn a very different language like Japanese.

Dutch, English, French and a smattering of words in German, Spanish, Italian, ... but not enough to claim that I speak the language (like other people here are doing!)

Actual knowledge:

1. Italian (well, duh);
2. English (using it almost daily);

Way behind:

3. Latin (5 years in high school). Actually, I only ever did written translations from and to Latin, so I don't think I could hold my own in an actual conversation.

Waaaay behind:

4. Spanish (self-taught). I can hold a basic conversation, but nothing more.

I understand some Italian dialects (actually almost different languages): Piedmontese, Sicilian, Emilian. But I don't really speak them.

Like others have said, I know some tourist's phrases in many European languages (German, French, Greek, Portuguese), but nothing like actually speaking the language.

Wish list: improve my Spanish, and Japanese (improbable, but still there).

English. That's it.

I took French in high school for 2 years. Couldn't learn it but got As.

I took Spanish when I went back to school to finish my Bachelor's--2 semesters. I got the highest grades in the class and most of them spoke Spanish. I can't speak it, I can't understand it. To learn "ventana" I had to forget 10 other words in Spanish! Hubby speaks Spanish (he was born in Mexico but you wouldn't know to look at him--everyone thinks he's Japanese ancestry)--but he asked me not to speak it because I hurt his ears when I try! He says I like English words so much, I can't get my brain wired for any others.

1) English (primary language)
2) French (for the past 6 years)

I know a few phrases in German and Spanish...and the basic greetings in those languages. Given some Italian or Spanish text...I could probably understand the gist of it. Since I plan on majoring in French in College, so that I can become a L.O.T.E. teacher, that is my main focus right now. However...I've always wanted to learn German. My high school dropped the courses 3 years before I entered my freshmen year. :(

I speak/read/write English.

My Spanish, on the other hand is limited, I understand what's being said, I can read it (slowly, but I can read it), but I can't speak it. Verb tenses just throw me. It weird.

I took one year of French in high school and quit because I hated my teacher. In retrospect I wish I'd kept it up because I really like the French language, and it's kind of annoying only being able to speak one language.

Donde esta el bano?

Donde esta su desnudo hermana?

That last sentence has gotten me in plenty of trouble in my days...If I said it right. It's been a while since I used my Spanish.

Then there's the ever horrible

Tengo un dolor de cabasa, luckily my exgf didn't use that one a whole lot.

Dutch & English; never learned other languages; I was always sick when I had French or German classes at school. :p

1) English
2) Southern Fried English
3) Midwestern English
4) Northeastern English
5) Canadian English
6) Bad English
7) Redneck
8) Asshole
9) French
10) French Asshole

J.

You don't speak Scottish or Australian?

Pfffft
.

I can order two beers from here to Australia. Holding down a conversation is another matter. How many Brits here remember the hapless BBC reporter trying to interview a Buckie fisherman?

Norwegian and English.

Had three years of German in school, but never really learned it. I can however understand some of it, and make some very grammatically wrong sentences

1. English
2. Flemish (dutch) - very rusty, though
3. Spanish - 3 years in high school, and can read/comprehend much better than listen/speak
