Well deserved. I just watched 5 of the 6 Sherlock episodes and he's a fantastic actor. I can't wait to see him in Star Trek 2.
Did you see him in Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy? He played a more subtle character and a low-key role, but very good nevertheless. The character he played in Tinker, tailor... (whose name was Peter Guillam) was also in a few other John le Carre "George Smiley" novels.

If they do a sequel to Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy (and I hope they do -- Gary Oldman's take on George Smiley was terrific) I hope they cast Cumberbatch as Peter Guillam again.

Second all of the above. And Smiley's People is greenlit as another film (it seems, like the TV miniseries with Alec Guinness, they'll be skipping The Honourable Schoolboy).

Somebody on another board suggested that Cumberbatch would be perfect for the role of Dr. Strange, if and when Marvel gets around to doing a new movie. I can see that!
