CSI Star Trek Parody

What was odd about this episode, was how at one point it could be insulting and stereotypical in it’s portrayal of con goers, and then turn around and seemingly defend the fans.

That wasn't odd, it was simply observant on the part of some writers who've actually attended these conventions. Both the "overweight pale basement dwellers dressed in latex foreheads and crazy outfits" and "normal fans" abound at these things, and for the writers to represent a convention as being composed of only the "normal" kind would be as unrealistic as treating the whole of fandom as "galaxy class fans" clad in unforgiving Spandex. It would certainly leave out the possibility of shooting at an actual convention - as some of this episode supposedly was - without a lot of wranglers to keep the peculiarly-dressed and oddly-behaving fans out of camera range.

Liz Vassey is just stunning.

She looked wonderful in that uniform with her hair all wild and crazy.

I thought they struck a pretty good balance between the costumed fans and professionals who just happened to like the show.

I liked it. I thought the right notes, and it was funny and sweet when it had to be.

EDIT> Saw Rekha Sharma in the crowd with RDM too.

Hodges and the micro-scanner reminded me of the vendor at a comic show/con who assured me that his X-Men #2 was FOR REAL AUTHENTIC and such a steal for only $750 when #1 was selling for $THOUSANDS. I gave him the evil eye and went on - heard him giving the same shpiel to the next innocent victim . . .

the bartender touch was pretty great. hope he converst Stokes

Hodges, Hodges, Hodges...

You SAD pathetic excuse for a man.

Yeah. All it took was a change in shift, and he can still have his mistress of justice and the hottie in the lab at the same time. Of course, if they did that then it would take the steam outta the tension. Once they get together, that's it. Like Lois and Clark. Like Moonlighting before it. It's not as interesting to watch.

This is probably the second full episode of CSI I've ever watched. I'm a sucker for that romantic thing in tv dramas, and if I thought that was going anywhere I might check it out again - but I understand the format of the franchise, and these folks are minor supporting cast, right? No joy there...

I wish I had recorded it. I found it on about 45 minutes into the episode. What I saw was good enough that I changed the channel because I want to see it from the beginning.
