Cryptozoological thread

I have no idea. It was a fleeting view. My immediate response was to think I was seeing a large dog (about the size of a black alsation). Then it got up and walked away, and its movements were undeniably feline. The friend I was with and I argued for ages over whether we had seen a cat (it was too big) or a dog (it was too feline). Weeks later she turned up the fact that big cats have been sighted in the area for ages.

Finding new species is not the same as cryptozoology.
Sure it is. The Gorilla was once considered a myth.

No hard, conclusive, proof has ever been presented that a big-foot or "Nessie" has ever exsisted.
There are a number of large, extinct primate species; and animals much like Nessie absolutely once existed. Certainly some cryptids are more likely than others, but there's nothing in the laws of biology or physics to prevent their existence; they're not supernatural (although some people attach supernaturalism to them).

it was reported on the news a couple of month's ago that scientist's had discovered a large heretofore unknown eel like creature in lake champlain ,i believe. it was being sent somewhere to see if they could determine exactly what it was.if true ,that would explain the sightings of "champ"in that lake.

The Loch Ness monster is supposed to be huge, there's not enough food supply in the loch to sustain a creature of Nessie's size, not to mention that the men, or his family, that made the hoax have admitted to it and the lake has been SONARed and RADARed countless times looking for such a creature.

There's nothing approaching a giant sea-serpent living in Loch Ness.

Even if a man has admitted to a hoax I believe that sightings of Nessie go back further than one man's lifetime.

Also, Loch Ness is connected to the sea so there would not have to be enough food in the loch ro sustain her. If she was only an occasional visitor that could sxplain why so hasn'r been pick up on sonar.

I don't particularly believe in Nessie but I believe that thre is a small chance that something large might sometimes visit the loch.

The earliest sighting of Nessie was in the 6th century, by Saint Columba. I don't think the 'doctors photo' hoax really bother him.

I don't suppose you have a link? I have a "New Animal Discoveries" Thread on another board, and I'm always looking for news.

it was reported on wabc radio in new york by paul harvey sometime this past fall.i believe it was found by researchers filming an upcoming episode of "monsterquest" from the history channel. i heard about it one day while at work. diver's found a juvenile's body in an underwater cave i believe.that's all i know.

Thanks. I watch MonsterQuest from time to time; it'll be nice to see them score. :D

I kind of miss Animal X on the animal channel. It was kind of silly, but dealt with cryptozoology.
