Red Cliff was released as 2 separate movies in Asia, each about 2 1/2 hours long. Apparently the US version was cut down into one release that was about 2 hours. It's tragic.

Indeed. - Those two hours didn't even feel that long. I'm hoping that when the dvd comes out, it's the full uncut version.

As for CTHD, I enjoyed it at the cinema. I've seen Flying Daggers (ok) but not seen Hero yet

The first time I EVER heard (paraphrasing) "this movie is so much better on DVD with the English dubbing" was this very movie.

I had a quick listen to the English track on my DVD copy. Instead of replacing the dialogue track in the sound mix they just turned the volume of everything else down and stuck the amateurishly recorded English language track on top, completely wiping out the film's amazing score.

Original language is the only way to go for me.

At last. We agree on something.

Especially in the case of this film, original language is a must. And yes, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon is an excellent film, one I can watch over and over and still love just as much as the first time.

Holy crud, the international release is only 2 hours long?!

I have no idea what you could cut to make it coherent. Well, other than the battle scenes maybe.

Gah. I'd love to see Red Cliff, but if they cut out that much, no thanks. I'll wait for a better option.

Too bad Dragon Dynasty probably won't be the ones releasing it on DVD, they'd probably put it out at its full length.

Loved it and agree the original Chinese is the only way to see it. I'm a bit addicted to these movies as a result of this one! Loved them all, although Flying Daggers my least favorite. I would put CTHD in my top ten movies of all time list.
