Crossing the Streams

while watching the Genesis II pilot a few days ago I wondered if by moving World War three and dropping the hints of the post war earth in "Encounter at Farpoint" if GR wasn't mixing a bit of Genesis II into Trek much the way he folded elements of the questor tapes in with Data Particularly as he was originally conceived, that is built by aliens shoehorning it in would be tough particularly considering the TNG and after canon,But I'm thinking the ideas for G2 and Pax colored GR's thinking re:TNG

Gene had some pet ideas that he loved to go back to when possible. WWIII was probably just something he liked to use as a storytelling device.

Ohhhhh... THAT "crossing the streams"...

Almost every pilot GR did was a variation on theme. As said, he had certain plot devices like WW3; post-apocalyptic Earth; non-monetary societies, etc. which Gene frequently used.
