"Crossbow-class" - a ship, for a change!

Since we've discussed modeling the Crossbow-class, I decided to play a bit with it myself - in this case, what it might look like on the shelf in the captain's quarters (Pike's quarters, in fact ... )

Still haven't decided on those doors ... ;)

Awesome pic :) :techman:

Hey, Ptrope, Redfern! Bet you never expected to see me here, eh? :)
I love that display case render, Ptrope. It really shows off your mesh
to perfection. Well Done!

Actually, yeah, I am a bit surprised!

Just know to "duck" before the poo starts flinging! ;)

I've observed jihadisst with less "passion" than some of the "regulars" here.

Sincerely,

Bill

Oh, I'll be keeping a VERY low profile! I just saw somethings I wanted to comment
favourably on, like Ptrope's Crossbow, or Madman1701A's high Tech Doomsday
Machine, that I figured registering and staying undercover most of the time would
work. Biting my tongue on the DAZ forums makes me think I can do it here too. :)

Welcome, Starkiller! And thanks for the kind words! Now I think I'll have to redo that pic, since I have the TriComm available now ;). As much as I like XCalPro's communicator, I'd also kind of like to be able to compose it of all my own models :bolian:.

Don't worry about the temperature around here - we try to keep this forum, at least, down to a simmer :D.

I'd just like to say, I prefer your Crossbow class over Matt Jeffries' original Constitution class. I've always felt the Constitution's nacelles looked silly on those long, awkward, spindly struts. This looks far more practical and realistic.

Thanks, starfox - and welcome to the board! I appreciate the sentiment - this ship has definitely grown on me, but I still have a fondness for the classic layout; I had good bones to work with ;).

Just for fun, and since I saw the movie this weekend and then was forced to live without an Internet connection for the weekend, I cooked up a little crossover, just to pass the time:

Actually, I've been around for years, but my account was deactivated recently, I was just found to have three additional accounts that I never used (assuming that's what a "dual" is, the admin never explained that), and I didn't know it was against policy. Early on, I couldn't decide on a name I liked, and you can't rename yourself, so I just made the additional accounts.

I was kitsune.

Your Tron-themed ship is cool, by the way.

Absolutely superb. Love the Tron crossover (I come over all geeky when I see stuff like that). Makes me wish I would have paid more attention in my lightwave lectures at uni. Keep up the good work man.

^Actually, you can ask to be renamed, I think in the QS&F forum.

Ptrope, I saw your Tron Trek pics over on dA. Very cool! The glowing markings reminded me of the ships in Serenity (and of a discussion of such markings in "real" Trek a while back).

I had a similar thought (and in the interests of disclosure, I like the idea of self-illuminated markings over floodlit ones, just as a practical reality). Regardless of how one perceives them, I plan to include this texture set when I release the model, which should be any day now. ;)

Glad folks seem to like this 'mashup.' :D

Nope, she's riding the beam (the actual name of the image is "Splitting the Beam"; probably should've included that in the first place, huh? ;))
