Criticism sandwich

I thought we'd give Voyager some criticism sandwiches, these are the opposite of compliment sandwiches in that it is a compliment sandwiched between two criticisms- I thought that might be easier with Voyager.

So the order should be

criticism
complement
criticism
criticism
compliment
criticism
etc etc.

Each person give one criticsm or compliment but try to avoid really big ones like "continuity" or "this show sucked", likwise "I loved all the characters" etc etc, keep it precise.


I'll start with a criticism

-The lack of continuity regarding the number of members on board the ship that seemed to fluctuate from episode to episode,

so next person gives a compliment.

voyager having (apparently) regenerative powers

Voyager keeping on dead weight like Harry and Chakotay while jettisoning a decent character.

7 of 9 was a very well written character.

 

[Ro Boat]

The writers never fully embraced, then abandoned, the fact that the ship was in a completely different part of the galaxy and thus the same old ST rules didn't always have to apply.

That's a bit vague for this threar Ro Boat...cool name tho.

We never got to see Voyager buy weapons to replenish their supplies...we only saw that they were going to once but then they didn't

Voyager had arguably the best doctor of any series, and he didn't even have a formal name.

Sloppy and unispired writing and some really bad decisions from those in charge.

Lack of continuity after Deadlock, I mean come on you have an alternate Harry now and everyone is just meh about it.

An interesting premise, a Federation starship cut off and alone in a distant part of the galaxy with the possibility of a multigenerational journey to reach home.

Species 8472 is under-explored, and nano-technology serves as too quick a solution to both them and the borg.

They had a holodeck malfunction story already in the very first season.

The ship had a fairly species-varied crew. That may not mean much to some people, but I'll admit I noticed it, and liked that the senior officers only had a minority of humans.

Mind you, outside of the senior officers there weren't that many aliens but I agree that that was a plus but this brings me to my next one...


----They didn't really explore deeply and new alien cultures, this wasn't helped by the fact we had a Klingon and a Vulcan on board, we already know all about their cultures! I wish they had given us some species we didn't know much about---------------

Am I on criticism? Sometimes I only eat one part of a sandwich.

Criticism - nothing was really explored long-term with the Maquis and their different way of thinking. There were just a few episodes here and there.

The character of Seven of Nine was an excellent addition.

 

[Vic Sixx]

"Endgame" was badly written and filled with flaws.

Threshold may have been abysmal, but it sure did have some cool lizards.
