the cat is neither dead nor alive it is a dog not a cat...

of course it could be dead and alive.. or neither dead nor alive

but ,,, if it is dead it is... always been dead(inorganic) or dead for sometime(decayed organics) or freshly killed ... (some "spots" are live other "spots" are not)
