Sepp Blatter does his ostrich impersonation.

In all the mudslinging that's going on, one of the more incredible things he said is "something's wrong when governments get involved". This is because the UK is fuming about the amount of barefaced graft going on. The FIFA 'Ethics Committee' are on a sticky wicket here too.

Are you serious, you stupid man? Who do you think pays for the national teams that play in your gravy train competitions?

I know that withdrawing isn't an option but I really do think some of the more coy big players should step up to the penalty box. If Coca Cola and Adidas can flex their mighty muscles, why can't more nations grow a spine too?

So this huge, multinational, multi-billion pound organisation is no business of anyone but themselves? I'm surprised there isn't a huge backlash from everyone regardless.

I think we should have a no fly zone over FIFA...and possibly some bombing raids. Face it the guy's about as legitimate as Gadaffi...

The point is we were happy to ignore corruption while we thought there was a chance of us getting the WC (same as most of the other losing bidders did as well) Only the BBC and, was it the Times or the Telegraph?, were going on about corruption before hand.

I guess that's true, but I don't blame the FA for playing ball before the full extent was known (or accepted, maybe). Now that it is more open, hopefully the bigger stakeholders will push. (I'm not really sure which paper was pushing, although I suspect the Times - I've been out of the UK for too long now to claim any deep knowledge.)
