I was clearly wrong.
Well, you usually are.
I didn’t think so as well, especially with them being in mid seasonI'm not the only person who didn't think this would happen.
It would be beyond amazing if they revisited that scene in Ezra's Flash movie.
(Won't happen, you say? After tonight, I would never say never.)
Too bad Sergeant Hulka's otherwise engaged uptopic.Arrow
Season 8 - Episode 8 - "Crisis on Infinite Earths - Part Four"
Oliver: The Spectre side of his personality was interesting, but the potential of that was ruined by boiling it down to his dying again (which was anticlimactic, as it...already happened several episodes ago), in some would-be Endgame/Iron Man-esque scene.
Flash :For a moment, Barry acted like he had a backbone, then...not so much. He spent the hour running around, mouth agape, utterly confused (even after Oliver repeatedly tells him what he had to do...)
Black Lightning: Wait...he's a thing in this story? Nope.
SG/BW: SG carrying Routh's cape--trying to be a nod to a certain cover & panel, but lacking the power of those comic moments. A running problem.
She's a bit of a hypocrite to even lecture Lex on his schemes, as she was willing to use the Book of Destiny to essentially do the same thing (until talked out of it--barely): change all history as it unfolded. It does not matter that she believed she would reverse disaster, its still attempting to play God with the lives of everyone.
"left her with a bad name and broken heart" Ugh. Yeah, she can just forget about Lena's being an advocate of eugenics/human experimentation. Berlanti's little group never fails to make Supergirl about as morally clearheaded as (Fill in any elected official's name).
Lex: As noted last year, with the Book's influence / power granted to Lex, this brings it back to who is going to stop him...and of course that has to happen, because the show used the most abused, trope in current TV and film: some sort of "ultimate domination" which is another way of saying that it will never happen. Not with Thanos, not with Luthor, not with anyone. That's why it has no interest or impact at all.
Monitor / Anti-Monitor: Flashbacks with no meaning. No weight.

Season 5 - Episode 1 - "Crisis on Infinite Earths - Part Five"
Oliver: Were they ever trying to pull the Endgame funeral scene here.*
Flash/Iris: Who?
Black Lightning: The last thing anyone wants to see is the carefully built, more reality-based, politically potent (in a genuine sense) Black Lightning world upended with any kind of merger with a sea of weak characters/shows. The same with Batwoman.
..and why is he so jovial after everything that Freeland still faces? The continuity had him vanish while the entire Jennifer/Odell/Markovian situation was far from over, and this "plot" did not even suggest any of it was resolved. One can only hope the one jewel of CW/DC shows hand waves most of this terrible misuse of the character away as episodes roll out.
SG/BW: Batwoman had next to nothing to do as in the majority of her appearances in this crossover. No one--outside her series' writing staff--knows how to handle the character at all.
Ray's "Throw like a girl" and SG's "always" reply had the opposite meaning (as in trying to subvert the suggestive negative cultural line) the showrunners intended, only they do not know it.
Monitor / Anti-Monitor: Underserved throughout this crossover. All of what the comic brought to the medium with the character(s) and their harrowing effect on one individual after another was never matched by the CW version. That, and trying to replicate the cover of Crisis on Infinite Earths #12 with that slapdashed, perspective-challenged fight made him appear to be any random guy in a suit, instead of the beast who held so much in his hands from the source.
NOTES: Unfortunately for Marv Wolfman, he will never see his grand co-creation ever receive the adaptation its long deserved. Few comics concepts were ever worthy of a big budget movie adaptation, but the comic Crisis on Infinite Earths was that kind of concept. It carried the responsibility of straightening out / give greater meaning to 50 years of often convoluted plots while erasing the so much of the terrible late Golden/early Silver Age stories. It was one of the few true game changers in the medium--one that had such purpose to honor / drive the best of DC as it deserved to be. Here, that level of creativity and importance was not to be found at all, instead, it was 5 hours of largely cheap, uninspired and rushed ideas just to say "W-we did Crisis....yay?".
Things just happened for the sake of it, and all of the endless gap-legged posturing, "this is the worst ever!" / "Anti-matter--!" pronouncements could not save any of this CW crossover from being a mess of no creatively satisfying consequence. In fact, they were--from time to time--too busy trying to grab some of the MCU/Avengers mojo, as if to say, "we can get that feeling, too!"
Too much pointless stunt casting / fanwank (like any tribute to the Super Friends) that had no bearing on the individual series and continuity, largely because certain actors have a higher pay grade (Cryer) and will not be the villain of the week (which his Nobel Prize speech tried to tease as a "wink" toward Kara).
Speaking of Kara, with this world's Lena being some kind of "normal" woman and not the villain she was all along, that "fighting for Lena's soul" business mentioned in pre-season interviews just went bye-bye, unless the continuity is restored, to justify any of Kara's struggles with her.
Produced in 2019 and the FX are that amateurish?
COIE's complete ratings coming soon.

The first half of Supergirl and Black Lightning's seasons were built around storylines that no longer matter with Earth-38 and Earth-73 having ceased to exist.
Flashpoint made changes to the Arrowverse, but it didn't render existing storylines completely meaningless.

You're point about Supergirl is valid, but we still don't know how much or if anything is carried over. It is also possible that since Lex made the changes in question that those changes could be reversed, at least, partially. As far as Black Lightning goes, that remains to be seen.
Oliver made Lex a hero.
I'm surprised that @Christopher hasn't chimed in on this because he also opposed merging Earths.
