Unimatrix Zero is an even worse thought out Borg ep. than "Decent".
I disagree. VOY had very few ongoing threads but the idea of a Borg civil war was such a brilliant idea that could have been a potentially interesting arc to give some closure to the Borg saga that I couldn't help but love it.
I enjoyed "Descent" but it really didn't set up a proper civil war idea. It was more caught up in Lore and treating these Borg as an isolated rogue group with their own conflict on how best to pursue their newfound sense of self. The presentation of drones being able to regain their individuality and use the dream realm as a staging ground for a rebellion as they worked together from within to bring down the Collective was handled much better in how everything was set up.
I thought it was neat to have the liberated drones pretending to still be under the Queen's control as they went about sabotaging cubes and gaining control of the ships in order to mount a resistance--sort of sheeps in wolves' colthing. I also thought it was cool seeing Janeway, Tuvok and Torres as drones yet with their individualities intact. Something like this had been building for years and no doubt all the civilizations she encountered that had been devastated by the Borg played heavily into her decision to take this extreme course of action.
