Credits..before/after?

Not sure if this is a thread already, so sorry if I am stepping on toes..

But would you prefer the credits BEFORE the movie...or after. I go with BEFORE so we can get some kick ass "main theme". I know that many epics these day prefer to run the credits at the end..but not me...I want to know who made the movie and who is in it at the start....with big musical score blaring away as well..

I say before, the main thing I disliked about Nemesis was the lack of credits and music at the start. Got to have those 20 notes blending into the main theme or it just doesn't feel right.

^Funny you should say that. I was just about to say how I liked how they did that in NEM! The theme was played but it wasn't as long as some. I kind of like the idea of getting right into it. Once the movie has ended and the impressions have been made, then they could put the names with the faces. Many of the actors aren't known by their names by the masses so doing credits at the end could work well.

I did like how TUC ended with the actors signatures (Shatner's timed with the cresendo of the music)....added some class to the movie..

I say, jump in to it with the 24th century part and as Spock takes his trip back in time after lets say 10mins or so, kick in with the credits, opening music, and logo, and go into the 23rd century part.

The only movie to not have an opening credit sequence was Nemesis, and that resulted in that movie being an epic failure. If Trek XI is to be any kind of success, it needs an opening credit sequence.

All Successess - All Sans Opening Credits...

Also BTW I liked Nemesis because it was so unlike previous Star Trek Films, yet I love Star Trek, with ST2 ST6 ST3(enterprise stealing) STFC and STN as my favourite films.

I guess it's not unlikely that they do something like that: Start the film with a teaser (maybe the destruction of the Kelvin), have the credits and then jump to another time period.

Are you suggesting there is a correlation?

Just showing there is no correllation to this...

The credits need to roll 15 minutes into the movie. JJ would really be making a statement considering how "different" this movie is going to be.

It seems like almost every big blockbuster these days puts all the credits at the end. If I were to bet money, I'd put my strips of latinum on that.

The latest 'thing' in these epic blockbuster type Hollywood films is to have the credits at the end, which is probably what we'll get.

Personally, a simple title card at the beginning would be good.

The End Credits could start with something akin to the opening of Star Trek: TOS, with the Space, The Final Frontier speech spoken by Chris Pine, with a new rendition of the TOS fanfare, then the Original Series theme playing over the credits, and going into a suite of themes from the film.

They should show the Star Trek VI signatures at the end, but they get erased and the new actors sign their names in their place. :)

I just imagined it visually using the opening music theme from fight club, starts off with a nice relaxing tune being played then theres the sound of a record being scratched and changed then heavy music suddenly takes over.

It would be funny to see signatures being written nice and neatly like that and then suddenly the new ones are roughly scribbled over the top of them in a similiar fashion.

I prefer my credits at the end of the movie, so as not to "spoil" the film.

For example, the credit "Giant Animatronic Space Bunnies designed by Carlo Rimbaldi" in the opening credits, sorta gives up the big surprise that the story involves Giant Space Bunnies. Likewise, an opening credit of "Special Appearance by William Shatner as James T. Kirk" might unnecessarily 'telegraph' aspects of the ultra-top-secret finale.:techman:
