Crank 3

I finally saw Crank: High Voltage last night. I can't remember the last time I saw something so rediculous, over the top and trashy that ditched it's own plot only to give the audience the middle finger, literally.

I loved every second.

If you haven't seen it, do so and marvel at crazy Bai Ling and one of the best Godzilla spoofs ever made.

Anyway, in wanting to read more about the movie, I discovered that there are plans for a third installment...

Efren Ramirez, the co-star of Neveldine/Taylor's popular Crank movies, opened his mouth at Comic Con 2011 this year and Movie Web picked up the sweet, sweet words: Crank 3 is coming. Our suggestion for a title: Overcranked. Come on, that's pretty clever.

In a video interview, Ramirez said that Neveldine and Taylor are looking into "either a Crank 3 going forward with Jason Statham, or going back with a prequel."

And from an interview with Jason Statham...

I’m a big fan of your pairings with Neveldine/Taylor, I’m curious, when you think of the Crank movies, what’s the first thing that comes to your head and do you ever think there’ll be a third?

Statham: It’s a shame the last one didn’t do that well. I think the first one had a little bit more success and usually if you do a sequel, it usually has to in some ways take a little bit more money than the first one.

Well the second one is just balls up crazy.

Statham: Yeah, it was absolutely nuts, which reflects exactly who those two are. I don’t know, whether we’ll do another one? Who knows? I just know we had a great…working with those two guys is not like working with anybody else. I mean, they are absolutely mad as hatters. And Neveldine, moved to the country not so long ago, and has been living a different kind of life. I don’t know how plugged in he is to doing a third one.

Well they’re directing Ghost Rider 2 right now, so they’re clearly back in the game.

Statham: We’re always in touch. We always mention the idea of, shall we do another one, I don’t know.

What do you think? Ready for another one? You can't go wrong with Jason Statham.

Like I said in the Ghost Rider 2 thread. Not particularly fond of the frenetic stylings of Neveldine and Taylor, whom make Michael Bay look like Gus Van Sant. Don't get me wrong, I like movies that are so bad they're good, but this movie was atrocious. So hell no! Let Chet Chelios stay dead for the love of all that is right in the world.

Atrocious? I had a fucking blast when I saw that in a cinema. Movies like Crank aren't movies you think about, they're movies you just sit back with the biggest tub of popcorn and the biggest cup of coke and just fucking enjoy for the stupidity. Where else do you see Jason Statham grow 500ft tall and fight Godzilla style?!

As long as he and Neveldine and Taylor are back for 3, and it starts the way my mate suggested - Chev Chelios goes to Jason Statham's house and rips his face off so he can use it after the end of Crank 2 - I'll be fucking over the moon. :ouch:

I have seen Statham in the 'Transporter' movies but haven't seen the 'Crank' movies. I think he is great so...

i saw the first one and thought it was stupidly enjoyable but wasn't particularly bothered about seeing the 2nd.

i'd rather Stath did Transporter 4.

I saw Crank: High Voltage but not the 1st one. Still, High Voltage is a brilliantly fucked-up movie! It's the bastard love child of Quentin Tarantino & Bugs Bunny, abandoned at birth and raised in a crack house by Tony Scott! It's the Gremlins 2 of action movies! If they can do it again, I highly recommend it!

Favorite part: Bai Ling is completely unintelligible, even with subtitles!
Least favorite part: When the guy gets his nipples cut off. That was a bit much for me.

(On the other hand, I give the Transporter movies a mere "Meh" at best.)

Did not care for the first Crank. I thought Crank 2, tanked? They are really going to get funding for another?
I'd rather see him in another Transporter, Italian Job sequel or Expendables 2.

I've only seen the first Crank (which I kind of liked, despite myself) but comments in this thread really make me want to see High Voltage. I'll keep an eye out for the next time it's on TV.

Crank 3, well if it's fun, sure, why not?
