Cowboy Bebop Live Action Movie is a Go!

I suppose i should get around to finishing the anime sometime. I have like 2 episodes left to go but I'm never in the mood lol

Call me crazy, but I think Cobie Smulders would make a great Faye. It's one of those things that so bizarre, it'd actually work.

Didn't we already get a live action version? wasn't it called, Firefly or something?

Well, there was a chick in a box and The Reavers are certainly freakish...the other stuff is more of a stretch....

i think it's a stretch only cause they didn't get enough time to do anything with the ship

Or because Firefly and Outlaw Star have so very little in common and the things they do have in common are incredibly superficial: like being set in space in the future on a spaceship. Cowboy Bebop is the same in that way too.

They're barely similar when it comes down to it, all three just happen to be science fiction shows set in space with some mild western genre influences (which Firefly actually utilized much more and better than Outlaw Star and Cowboy Bebop).

Agreed, they're both pretty poor comparisons. I would say though that Firefly is the closest thing we've had here to any western styled rag tag space outlaw/bounty hunter team anime, however remote the comparison.

Faye should be played by Grace Park
If she could do the right attitude she would be pretty good in the role, but I don't know if she could do a good job pulling off Faye's attitude.

Now Fred, I don't know what they would do with her character.

i think Grace could pull off cold and conniving pretty well, and she can do the invulnerable but loving part, and i think you mean Ed, not Fred (who is a girl, too BTW)

When I think back to her Battlestar performances they don't really scream Faye to me, but to be fair I've only seen her in Battlestar, so it's possible she has done something that's very Faye like that I haven't seen.

And yeah I meant Ed, I just watched Outlaw Star a few weeks ago and maybe that's how I got the name Fred stuck in my head. ;)

Ed is a very anime-ish character. I'm sure they could do her in live action, but it would be pretty much impossible for her to be the exact same character, and I'm sure Ed's character would become a major things that fans complain about.

Maybe Kirsten Bell for Ed? You could make her look younger without too much work. She'd still look older than the "target" age of course, but I don't know any girls in that age group could pull off the wackyness. Be she most certainly could.
