Cover Copy for Myriad Universes and These Haunted Seas

FWIW, I believe mine is the only story that takes place in a continuum that had been previously established in an episode.

So indeed, all of the authors seem to have been given the freedom to take whatever approach best served their story ideas, and I trust the results will be very positive.

SEEDS OF DISSENT by James Swallow: Khan victorious! Almost four centuries after conquering their world, genetically enhanced humans dominate a ruthless interstellar empire. But the warship Defiance, under its augmented commander, Princeps Julian Bashir, makes a discovery that could shake the pillars of his proud civilization: an ancient sleeper ship from Earth named the Botany Bay.
Hey, wait a minute (the thought suddenly struck me sometime last night): If Khan won, then who the heck is in the Botany Bay??? Hmm...
Rain Robinson!

I can't believe KRAD didn't write a Voyager story where Voyager is not sucked into the delta quadrant. He could have kept his streak going.

I only watched very few TAS episodes and that was a very long time ago when I was living in Germany.

But you read "Crucible: Spock", no? Thelin was in that, too!

Perhaps I should give TAS a second chance.
Most definitely. The TAS DVD set is a great investment. Think of Arex and M'Ress as a prequel to the NF adventures of the USS Trident!

I have the Crucible trilogy but unfortunately so far haven`t found the time to read it. If I will find Thelin intriguing the Spock book will move closer to the top of my to-read pile. On the other hand, even if that happens, it will be a while: The Destiny books and related novels are getting closer and they will overtake anything else for a while.

Ah, I wanted to say something else: I am more tempted now to get the TAS boxed set. There is a good chance I will buy it when I see it second hand or if I see it at a very good price.

These all look very interesting! I'm a big fan of alternate history stories, so these are quickly moving to the top of my 'must get' list! And it doesn't hurt that some of my favorite Trek authors are involved :)

Why should he write The Mirror-Scaled Serpent twice? ;)

(P.S.: That's his story in the Mirror Universe TPB Obsidian Alliances :) )

I was able to pick up the new Trek Magazine and read the A Less Perfect Union excerpt and it was great. I'm especially curious to see who else other than the characters seen and mentioned in the excerpt appear in the story.

^ Because I'm insufferably curious, would you be amenable to writing, in spoiler code, who those characters are?

Fictitiously yours, Trent Roman

The excerpt features a 176-year-old T'Pol and Captain Christopher Pike.

THE CHIMES AT MIDNIGHT by Geoff Trowbridge: In a continuum where Spock died during childhood, an Andorian named Thelin became Captain Kirk's stalwart friend and first officer...

Oh wow!!!!

And just wait til you see what's been done for the excerpt in Star Trek Magazine #12! I'm expecting to be able to hear the shout of pleasure from the other side of the world...!

^^Well, since the BB was presumably launched in 1996, those "people [we]'ll know" might not necessarily be fictional...

I know -- it's us! With Khan's Augments taking over the world, a brave cadre of Star Trek writers escape the Earth in a starship designed and built by Sternbach and Okuda, in order to keep the dream alive.

I'm really glad there's going to be a Julian Bashir story and to see him in a totally different universe totally different the eugenica wars taken in a totally different direction. and finding the Botany Bay is a neat twist. It will be interesting to see what the next book excerpt will be in Star Trek magazine 12.
