Ok lets say something like the Walking Dead got out. Turned about 90% of the world into man-eaters, with 10% of course being immune. If you were part of the 10% could you survive?
What would you do first?
What would be your game plan?
What would you do to ensure your survival?
Would you help or travel with others?
How would you travel?

Hide in my basement for about two days until the military arrives and saves the day.

Go get mum. Go get the girlfriend. Head down to the pub. Have a beer till it all blows over.

Well if you are immune then the question answers itself.

If not though, well, I'm lucky enough to live in a country where the middle of nowhere is only a couple of hours drive away. No zombie freak people out there, no sir

In the case of any situation like that, Zombies or no Zombies, I have a plan. First get to the local library and gather a few things. The Decloration and Constitutio0n, I have a pocket version. I have a text book of U.S. history. The books I would need is the current edition of the Boy Scout Handbook and the Army Survival field guide. Sounds like a lot to carry around, but totally neccessary in my book(pun intended). I have a compass, so I would be good with that. So I guss I'd have to raid Walmart which is five minutes down the road. So I would need a shotgun or a rifle as well as a revolver. I don't know if walmart has all of that stuff, but they have some . I would pick up some light fishing and camping gear. Then go to my closest hardware store and get some ammo. Once I've got all the supplies I need, I would find maybe five or six of my closest friends and ask them to come with me to the mountains as far away as I can get from civilization. If they don't want to come, then I guess I will have to pull a Jerimiah Johnson for a while. I will keep a watchfull eye on humanity and pop into town from time to time. Once I've seen that society is begginning to be rebuilt I will rejoin with all my books in hand. I will show them the Constitution and Decloration and will help to rebuild, repopulate and re-educate. I don't know if that plan will work, but that's the plan.

I'm breaking into the gun and sporting shops and grabbing the largest knife, several lighters and a duffel bag full of ammunition as well as a rifle. Then I'm grabbing a bunch of arrows for my bow. Stuff a backpack full of food items and I'm ready to hide out somewhere, making trips to the outside for supplies.

Never guns, the sound just attracts more. Archery and swordplay are the best bets. Of course, even with rifles, you gotta get good to be getting all those headshots anyway.

I'd be ok, I'd just have to sharpen some of my swords and find a place to hole up. My kindle has most of those books mentioned above (including the zombie one, lol) and I've got solar chargers for most of my electronic equipment. (I'm not a survivalist nut, just happen to travel a lot as well as read)
I think the hardest part would be raising the two kids in that environment. Heck, in the latest Walking Dead......

Gather survivors, commandeer an aircraft carrier (Nimitz Class), start a self sufficient colony in the middle of the ocean.

Everyone has "the disease" in The Walking Dead. Even the living. If you die you zombify. If a zombie bites you, you die then you zombify.

Since this isn't zombies per se, I'm not sure how many of these reasons apply here, but:

Seven Scientific Reasons Zombie Outbreak Would Fail (Quickly).

I would need more information about this current situation to predict my survivability. If they are mindless and slow moving and I'm well-armed, I'd be fine. If they are mindless and fast moving, I'd have a bit bigger of a problem. If they were capable of reasoning, but simply like eating the flesh of others, I'd have lots of problems.

If a bunch of Trekbbs posters can survive the Zombie apocalypse then it isn't severe enough to wipe out civilization and hence isn't a true apocalypse.

And while running around with a crossbow, swords or shotguns is great, eventually(probably within a few weeks) the supplies of edible foods will be gone, potable water will be gone, gasoline, electricity, all gone.

Unless you're a farmer of some sort(with a large stockpile of food and seed already gathered), with access to clean water your survival will be measured in months at best, instead of years.

I guess it would depend on the circumstances. If I'm in the middle of a crowded theatre and 90% of the people suddenly turn into zombies I'd be pretty much fucked.

Assuming they cannot drive I would head for either two places..

Center of Aus, somewhere with a water supply. I'm assuming I wouldn't be the only one headed there and there would be some kind of fortified town. Positive is I'm not sure how heavy zombie populations along the coast would survive crossing hundreds of kilometers of harsh desert--they would probably be feasted on by carrion birds and dingoes as they traveled. Negative to this would be disruption of food supplies and great difficulty in growing own food.

Southwest Tasmania. Very low population, very remote and rugged country, plenty of water and ability to grow foods. Wildlife to eat, fuel to burn for cooking and heating. Very difficult for zombies to climb mountains and they would probably fall prey carrion birds and other animals. I would want to live high up in a rugged area hard to access and to have many packs of dogs to sniff out and attack approaching zombies, important in an area with potentially poor visibility. Negative would be getting there in the first place, I would need to find someone with a plane to fly me there as I'm sure the ports would be full of zombies.

Because of food supplies issues I would take the second choice if possible. Once established hunting parties could begin eradicating zombies from Tasmania, being a low population place this would IMHO be doable from a position of strength and with planning.

After reading Seven Scientific Reasons Zombie Outbreaks Would Fail I have decided that I would get enough water and food supplies to last me, my sons and my cats several weeks and then I would go to the top floor of a high-rise building (with security doors) and spend my time dropping office supplies on any zombie walking by below.

This strategy is mentioned in Reason 4 and I think it would work well for me as I have never learnt to drive nor have I ever used a gun.
