Could they Turn Down the Music?

Ok, just saw both parts of TEOT, and I have a complaint, and this is something that has been plauging me and this show for some time. I love the music on this show, and the epicness in which it is used, but It's too loud. During part one I could barely hear the dialogue (And it being British accent needs one who is not used to it listen to it very carefully) because the music was blaring non-stop. They toned it down a little during part two, but it was still loud in parts. I hope for the Matt Smith season(s), they keep Murray Gold's score, which is brilliant, but just turn it down. It should compliment to the show, not be the main course.

I fully agree. I have found the music to be too loud throughout the entire series, all the way back to "Rose" It can make listening to the dialogue very difficult at times.

Sorry, but could you speak up, you accent is really hard to understand!

Yeah at times the music on Who--good though it is--can be overbearing.

Didn't RTD once say in an interview that he intentionally made the show loud and frantic so that casual chennel hoppers would be inclined to stick around if they chanced upon it?

I have had no problem with how loud the score has been since for the most part it's been terrific. It only adds to the excitement of the episode.

I agree about the music being to loud, I like the music, but its just a tad louder than it needs to be, it overpowers the dialog and makes it hard to hear sometimes.

I've heard this complaint a lot. You know, I've never thought the music was louder than the dialogue. A problem with your TV perhaps?

Its loud, i'll admit. But its more likely to be a problem with the sound in your tv - they wouldn't intentionally prevent you from hearing the dialogue.

No problems with other broadcasts. I notice it only in Doctor Who, on both my TV and my computer.

Well, we'll see how things go next season. Wonder if Moffatt will be replacing the sound team as well?

Personally I never had a problem with hearing the dialogue. I'm the sort who likes 'in your face' soundtracks anyway.

I've never had a problem of barely being able to hear the dialogue.

Although the gun sfx was unusually loud during the stand-off scene in the End of Time.

The scene where the Doctor is piloting the ship with the music and the sound effects drowned out what they were saying to the point that I just about gave up trying to understand what they were saying.

I'm sorry you took offense to something that I was trying to be generalized about. I tried very hard to say it in a way to not hurt any feelings but still be honest. With that being said, I don't regret that point.

I thought you were diplomatic.

I haven't had a problem with the music in Who overpowering the dialogue, but I do get it in other shows (new bsg that I'm watching at the moment, for example).

After the Pompei episode my g/f turned to me and said she liked it, but she wasn't sure what had happened because she only caught about every third word!
