Because of the spoilers for "Terra Firma, Part 1" and the R. M. Burnett tweet that i read, because we usually get the new episodes in Germany a day later, i think it's a real possibility...

Perhaps Part 2 will show something insane that changes COTEOF in some way that TOS fans go crazy about - like (wild speculation) Rodent didn't die and is actually Carl now, the GoF was not the 'real' Guardian, cause that's Carl, or Edith's death led to the Prime universe and her living on led to the Mirror universe... etc.

I doubt it. The source of these rumors feel more like trolling attempting to stir up the anti-Discovery fans. Carl seems to just be sending Georgiou into her own memories, but it's mostly showing how much she has changed as a person since leaving the MU. This is more about her arc than time travel or canon. I figure she'll get the chance to either go back the MU or just back in time in the Prime timeline to save her life. She'll end up just going back in time which sets up the Section 31 series because she's no longer the person she used to be. Carl seems closer to a benevolent Q than anything else.

Why does everything in Star Trek need to be compartmentalized into a few done to death concepts or races?

When it was revealed Adira was a Trill, everyone ran screaming that it had to be Dax, things like that.

It's a giant galaxy. There are more beings than people want to box them into.

Yeah, that's what i think. From what i read i got some Quinn vibes. Didn't the Q in the continuum also read newspapers during "Death Wish"?

I like to think of the Guardian (and it's *the* Guardian, there's only one) is just an example of an AI that didn't go evil and destroy the universe. Or maybe he did, but that was 4 billion years ago, and he's calmed down since then.

I thought Edith’s death/lack of death being a branching point for the MU was pretty commonly accepted as “unofficially official.”
