Could the Enterprise-D run on Windows?

Who is to say that L.C.A.R.S is not an advanced version of windows. Maybe Windows L.C.A.R.S.

Well MS might have a monopoly on the desktop - but in other areas other OS's have a fairer share, the tendency if anything is for MS's new efforts to fall on their ass recently, so there is no reason to believe they will continue in power into the 22nd century, let alone 24th.

The next twenty years will see a massive change in the way we use and interact with our PCs both in business and at home - whether MS can survive this is up for debate...

This is how it would end up if the enterprise ran on windows.

TJ, That's crazy. I was on an escalator today and that VERY SAME SCENE (excluding the blue screen of death) jumped into my mind. I was trying to figure out if Spiner had destroyed the prop console in that scene. It really looks like he's pounding that screen there.

Did you make that gif? It's awesome either way.

Naaa, I didn't make it, no idea how. I picked it up somewhere along the way, don't remember where. When I see something funny I snag it for an appropriate occasion. :D

LCARS is probably an advanced version of Linux, or another open-source OS, since the crews seem to go screwing around in their computers all the time.

However, I'd guess that the NX class starships run entirely on Windows CE.
