Spoilers Could the altered timeline be the same universe as the one in "Seeds of Dissent"?

Where Khan was victorious, all human main characters are augments, and humanity conquered most other known species?

Think it could be either the same reality, as we haven't seen any differences between these universes, or at least a very similar timeline compared to the Myriad Universe story.

Could the change in 2024 possibly have something to do with Khan and his augments? Especially considering that Arik Soong worked together with them (and was possibly one of them himself) and another Soong apparently has a role to play in the past?

There's no evidence - yet - of genetic engineering in the Confederation timeline.

Besides, Khan and his ilk had all been defeated by 1996 anyway, and the point of divergence isn't until 2024...also, Arik won't come along for another hundred years.

It's possibly and very likely that Arik either wasn't the first Soong who was involved with the Augments or the new Soong family member is one of the Augments and because of a higher life expectancy (because of the genetic manipulation) the same person as Arik.

It's also possible that Khan and his supporters never left Earth, this time, and were still around in 2024. Or they were originally supposed to leave Earth during this year.

Iirc the exact date of the Botany Bay leaving Earth was never mentioned. Just that it happened after Khan was defeated...

So the alternate universe is based on something from a non-canon novel that most of the viewing audience probably has never read? Highly doubtful.

And as another example, the new name for Vulcan in the 32th century, Ni'Var, actually comes from a really old and obscure fanfiction story, most people never ever heard of before

There's no evidence of that. How would Adam Soong even be involved? We also don't have plans to send people to Europa, or have Sanctuary districts.

I don't think they're doing any real world parallels here.
It could be that Adam Soong is the Trekverse's version of Trump. I really can't see them not including some subtle as a sledgehammer political commentary.

Ni'var is a name which already existed in canon for twenty years, it was the name of a Vulcan ship on Enterprise. And while the writer of that Enterprise episode did admit the name was a reference to that short story, Disco was likely just referencing Enterprise.

I think Q gives Adam some kind of augment virus and then Soong miraculously find the cure.
Or perhaps Q introduces the virus into humans and then gives Soong the cure.

That's why Adam becomes the Hero that statues are built for.
