Contest: ENTER Could someone realistically uncover the secret identity of such a superhero in a real life scenario?

If you have a secret location like the Batcave or the Fortress of Solitude, then you have a place where you can protect the original body. Maybe we are getting off topic, but this is an interesting character.

So does this projected body look the same every time? Can the hero change this projected body's appearance? Can this astral body be a white guy one time, and a black guy another? Change genders?

That's certainly a way to throw off the scent.

Think The Doctor regeneration.

If this person can create a body upon the death of the astral body, can he create multiple bodies at the same time?

If he is watching on a monitor, can he project his body there? If so, his range can be anywhere there is a camera.

Thought that the second body of the hero might appear as a kind of massive shadow with no features. So neither black nor white. It should always appear to be the same.

Haven't really thought about if she hero should have a lair or not. But i think it might be better if he/she simply lives a normal life and fights crime at night, while appearing to sleep in his/her bed.

It is an interesting concept. I really think that the quest for the identity of this hero could be an intriguing story line. Now, given the nature of the sleep--family and friends might discover the sleeping body and can't wake it. Or the character might be caught in a situation where they can't return to their home which could create some interesting possibilities as well.

I'd also have to assume that whatever location they're hiding in, it would have to be high-tech, with a lot of gadgets, and if there are any communications being done, they'd have to at least be encrypted and using a VPN to mask the location. On the other hand, all of that gadgetry is bound to be a power drain something that can be traced, unless they're off the grid and maintaining their own power. But again, that'd take a lot of power.

Thats actually the reason why i think, it might probably be better for this hero to not have a traditional lair.

That way the villains would have a more difficult time to find out anything about this person.

But as an adult, Billy wouldn't neceassarily look just like Captain Marvel. Captain Marvel is big and buff, while the same height Billy might have a more average physical build, perhaps even a little pot belly.

In the 90's Power of Shazam series Captain Marvel looked like Billy's dead father.

When it comes to the identity thing, I do think if they ran into someone who knows them really, really well, like family member or significant other there's a pretty good chance something might give them away. But it'd probably be pretty hard for anyone who didn't know them and wasn't away of any little quirks they might accidently transfer to the projection.

What happens in a big battle like what we saw in the Avengers movie where aliens invade NYC, and the secret identity gets injured, captured, or rendered unconscious? What happens to the Super Hero?

"Look what happens to Superman when we beat on Clark Kent."

Now with Spidey, no one suspects a kid.
But a down on his luck trust fund kid who spent himself into the gutter...

I AM THE NIGHT!

“Bruce? Bruce Wayne? Who else but you could afford such-“

UMM..,

This does, however, remove the trope of "you never see Clark Kent when Superman is around" or vice versa.

There's a nice bit in a 1980ish Superman novel about Clark Kent always looking up to check after that time he had to burn a spy satellite that spotted him changing.
